Re: assurance prenatal

What is assurance prenatal? >_>

I'm assuming you mean maternity leave? Paid from employment insurance? No, that doesn't affect sponsorship, she can still sponsor you.

You need to be patient; this is not a forum where we get paid to post. We are all volunteers who get nothing for our time, so try not to expect answers within 20 minutes.

This link may enlighten you as to sponsorship eligibility http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900E2.asp

Check the section "Who can Sponsor?"

Particularly the bit about income and the conditions where it does not apply:

you have an income that is at least equal to the minimum necessary income, the amount of which is published yearly by the Canadian government.

You will have to provide us with documents that show your financial resources for the past 12 months and prove you are financially able to sponsor members of the family class. You may solicit the help of a co-signer (must be your spouse or common-law partner). If you reside in Quebec, see also Sponsors living in Quebec.

This condition does not apply if you are sponsoring only
your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner who has no dependent children, or
your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner whose dependent children have no children of their own, or
your dependent child who has no children of his or her own.

There is no such thing as "prenatal insurance". As mitamata said, it sounds like you are talking about maternity/parental benefits. In Quebec these benefits are provided through the Quebec Parental Insurance Plan (QPIP) so maybe that's where the confusion arises. Maternity leave is similar to EI and WILL NOT affect your's wife's ability to sponsor you.

PRs or citizens can receive maternity benefits but they must have worked 600 hours in the previous 52 weeks.

taga12: Keep in mind that your wife must be a Canadian citizen in order to be able to sponsor you while living with you in Morocco. If she is a PR then she must be living in Canada for the duration of your PR application processing.

EDIT: Sorry, I just re-read and saw that you mentioned that your wife is a Cnd. citizen, so never mind the above comment.

No problem Suin. Maternity benefits are a form of EI (employment insurance) so you have to have worked a certain number of hours and essentially paid into the program through EI deductions on your pay to be eligible to receive them. You can find more info. here http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sc/ei/benefits/maternityparental.shtml
