Hello,

I'd kindly ask for information please.
As far as I understand PR card and permanent resident status are not linked. PR card comes into effective, when you want to travel in/out Canada. However, to keep permanent residency status, one must reside 2 out of 5 years in Canada. Otherwise, one can get back to Canada (if PR card is not expired) but when PR card renewal application is filed, problems occur.

If one applies for PR card renewal (inspite the fact of not meeting residency obligations) and gets a feedback after 2 months saying that application is transferred to local CIC office ....

1) When being contacted by local CIC office, does it mean that CIC will schedule for an interview or send residency meeting questionnaire ? and what can happen next?

2) Any idea how long does it take to get a final decision on residency requirements after the application is transfered to local CIC office?
From previous posts, I understand that PR renewal process is deliberately prolonged by CIC for about 2 years. In most of the cases, PR status will be renewed .
Any thoughts?
Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
