Hi,

Here is my situation currently. I am currently residing in Montreal, QC on TWP status while my spouse and kid are Canadian Citizen.
My first question is that what would be a quick process in order to get a PR....will it be through family sponsorship or through QSW?
My second question is that since we both are living together in Montreal,Canada, will it possible for me to apply PR outside Canada e.g Buffalo, US in case of family sponsorship ? Moreover, my spouse is homemaker....does she meet the criteria for the sponsor ?
My third question is that Can I apply for PR and CSQ at the same time ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

//Ben

There is no "quick" process to get PR, it's up to the family to decide which meets their circumstances. If your spouse is Canadian, you may want to look into spousal sponsorship, and compare it with the current skilled worker timeline.

If you were admitted to Canada for at least a year initially, and with a TWP you might have been, yes you may apply through Buffalo.

Your spouse meets the criteria if she is over 18, a Canadian citizen, not an undischarged bankrupt, not in receipt of social assistance for reasons other than disability etc. Look at the spousal sponsorship forms, they explain who is eligible to sponsor. Her lack of income does not make her ineligible, but you will need to show how you plan to support yourselves (fairly easy, I should think, since you are in Canada on a TWP).

If you apply for PR, when Mississauga approves your spouse to sponsor you they will send her what information she needs in order to apply for the CSQ. They cannot be applied for at the same time, you need CPC-M approval first to get CSQ for a spousal sponsorship.

Keep in mind that if you apply to Buffalo and an interview is required - then it will be held in Buffalo too. If you are visa-exempt and can enter the US without a passport - then go ahead and process your file through the Buffalo office if you qualify. If you are not visa-exempt when visiting the US - don't pick Buffalo. We've seen several cases here where PR was refused and the process had to be started again from scratch simply because the applicant could not get a visa to attend the interview in Buffalo.

Thank you so much for your time. I am not from visa exempt country but I am working for Multinational Company with frequent travel to US.

So you have a visa for the US. Apply in Buffalo.
