PR Card related query

Hi,
I recently did my first landing as a Canadian permanent resident based on our COPR. I was expecting the immigration officer at the airport to ask for my local mailing address, to which they could send my PR card.
But during our conversation, I told her that I was in Toronto for a couple of weeks, and then would go back to India and move to Canada for good in early 2019.
She then told me that I should apply for my PR card only when I am in Canada for good, and hence did not ask for my local address.

I was concerned by this.

After reading a bit online, I faxed Form IMM 5456 to IRCC, which essentially is to update one's local address for PR card mailing.

I am hoping that I will receive the PR card in mail, and will then get my cousin to bring it for me to India.

Is this correct?

Others can comment as well but although pays to be honest with CBSA no need to volunteer any extra information if the question was not asked about how long you were staying. If I read correctly seems you have maybe volunteered that you were doing a soft landing and whilst some officers might not have an issue with this some take a different view as with your case and will not process your initial PR card application.

No, we will mail your permanent resident (PR) card to you when you arrive in Canada.

If you did not provide your Canadian mailing address when you became a permanent resident, use our online address notification tool to send it to us. You must provide your address within 180 days of the day you become a permanent resident. If you do not send it within 180 days, we will cancel the PR card and you will have to apply for another one and pay the processing fees.

Check current processing times to see how long you will have to wait to get your new card. Please tell us if you did not get your PR card within the processing times.

You are right, ideally I should not have mentioned that mine is a soft landing. However, when she asked me questions about how much money have I transferred to Canada as part of my Proof of Funds discussion with her, I told her that I am in Canada only for a few days, and will be back for good later.
The question remains if my PR cards will be dispatched, now that I have sent them my local mailing address in Canada.
