hello experts!!
I just heard a good news that i had to send my passport to CIC. my problem is my passport is only 5 months valid. it says that it has to be 6 months valid. Is the 6 months validity is only for applicants coming from outside Canada? I applied inland tru fsw express entry.

It is valid for everyone, passport has to be minimum 6 months valid. you might get it renewed in emergency process, check visiting embassy asap

thanks for the reply, i am planning to renew it after i got everything done with my permanent residency application. and since i have no plans of flying yet. i will just book an appointment to finalize my permanent residency instead of exiting boarder. my concern is, is my passport will be stamped if it is less than 6 months.

Can't you renew your passport and then send it to CIC?

You can send an email at the address mentioned on the ppr email and ask if u want.

thats what i meant, it wont be stamped, as they mention passport has to be more than 6 months valid to be stamped

Find out how long you. We'd to get you passport renewed, if it will take more than 30 days the. Write to IRCC and explain the situation on the email they've provided. They should give you an extension on the original 30 day deadline.

thank you for all the replies. it will take 6 weeks if i renew my passport. i will just email cic regarding my passport. and asked for extension. but i hope they will allow my 5 months passport.

i guess i've found the answer to my question

I think you should send them an email and ask them to extend the 30 days so that you can renew your passport!

Good advice but my country won't renew with more than 6 months validity. Is it dangerous to send them the current one?

so send them an email explaining your situation, that they have asked for 12 months validity and you have 10 months and that your country doesnt renew passports with more than 6 mnths...and wait for their reply

thats what i would do

hope it helps:)
