Guys, who's documents are not in English, please answer ...

Is it all necessary requirements for translation of documents? May be you know something else ...

"If a supporting document is in a language other than English or French, the applicant must provide CIC with a copy of the original document as well as a version translated by a certified translator."

source of the information: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/express/intake-complete.asp

Thank you, StAnger. I understand that "translation of documents is mandatory".
What I'm asking about ... Are there any other requirements for translation? For instance, it should be notarized may be... etc

If anyone knows anything else about it, please share. Thank you in advance!

Yeah, notarized.
Or else they won't know if the translation is to be trusted.

Thank you for your answer. Can you please share the link to the official CIC web page with this information? Because I read a lot on CIC website and have never seen any info that translation must be notarized. P.S. Documents which are in a language other than English or French must be "translated by a certified translator". That's all I found.

Re: ITA - Translation of documents

Depends on where you get them translated.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=018&t=4

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=040&t=4

An affidavit is a document on which the translator has sworn, in the presence of a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the place where the affidavit is sworn, that the contents of the translation are a true translation and representation of the contents of the original document. Translators who are certified members in good standing of one of the provincial or territorial organizations of translators and interpreters of Canada do not need to supply an affidavit.

1) "Depends on where you get them translated. " - I'm applying from outside Canada.

2) It is known that all supporting documents must be submitted electronically, through the MyCIC account.
a. so, if your documents are in English or French you just need to scan it and send as PDF file. *(Scan original docs)
b. but if your documents are in a language other than English or French, you must provide CIC with a COPY OF THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT as well as a version translated by a certified translator. *(Scan original docs + scan translations of these docs which were made by a certified translator)

Dear, Asivad Anac ... your link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=018&t=4 gives us the following information:
"If it is not in English or French, it must be accompanied by:
- the English or French translation; and
- an affidavit from the person who completed the translation; and
- a certified photocopy of the original document.
"

I personally believe that this information is fine ... besides "a certified photocopy of the original document." ... otherwise why would CIC ask for a certified photocopy of the original document if I will scan it anyway ... plus I may scan an original document instead.

Thank you, but I just want to find CIC official information, so I would know exactly how to translate documents.
For example, should it be notarized like for OINP or it is not mandatory... and so on. In the OINP Guide everything was clear, but for post-ITA documents I still can't find anything useful.... :(

Different people suggest different ideas ... but nothing 100% official and confirmed.

Re: ITA - Translation of documents

OMG.. I just realized that I didn't scan the certified copies- just the translation, the affidavit and the notary's seal! Asivad, anyone - what do I do now? Scan all the documents all over, this time with the copies, and contact CIC? Is it any use now?

P.S.Sorry for posting it here.

You see, most of my documents go like this:
the original doc,
the translation
affidavit for translation (notary's reassurance that it was really the translator, etc.+ the seal).
So the originals are present, but no copies.
However, there is a certified copy before most translations (except when the original doc was sewn with the translation), which I deliberately left out...

i only have one document not in english, and it's my university degree. however, the university registrar also sent in a certified english translation copy as well, no notarization involved.

province accepted this, and got nomination already. does it hold true for CIC? anyone has actual experience?

People, let's think logically...
Liara, why do you think that CIC wants you to scan and send the same information twice? I'm talking about original docs and certified copies of it.

I personally think that we must:
1) scan original document
2) scan translation of it (which is translated by a certified translator and which is NOT notarized by notary)
3) send these scanned documents together in one PDF file.
That's it.
