I also have an emergency work trip on May 1st. A mess indeed, but not all hope is lost. I also wonder that even if we proceed with our virtual ceremonies, the processing of the certificates will take forever since it's an administrative task and they will be on strike.

Our internal sources reveal that IRCC staff managers had virtual meetings around 2-3 pm EST, with their team members regarding the strike.
They have instructed their team that long term/indeterminate (full-time employees) will go on strike beginning at 12:01 am EST Wednesday April 19, 2023 in alignment with the PSAC instructions.
IRCC employees are now officially on strike until government agrees to their demands.
However, temporary short-term hired employees will continue to work as usual. Temporary short-term employees were hired to clear the backlogs and are not part of any union.

I believe so. The executives will not be on strike and temporary and contract workers will not be strike. The work done by third party will continue. Also, I believe that since they have been in strike position for a while. There must have been a back up plan devised for such services as Oath.
Hah AGAIN the temporary possibly foreign worker to the rescue. This is the Canadian way. We run this country.

Yep, the certificates are going to take forever, and plus, Service Canada passport centers are also going to be on strike. Double whammy
I don't think they care enough to have a backup plan in place. We can't know for sure if the ceremonies are gonna happen or not, we'll have to wait and see what happens this week. If they cancel this week's ceremonies, then we can assume they will cancel all of them until the strike ends. I just hope that this strike won't last as long as the 2013 one!

Be prepared to wait several more months (or years), more.
Looking at the spread sheet, there hasn't been much movement recently. I suppose this has to do with the strikes. I don't dare doing anything remotely like this at work myself. The rest of us normies are having to continue to work hard under the harshest of circumstances.

I have my oath ceremony on April 19. The Mississauga office emailed us with instructions to switch the in-person ceremony to a virtual ceremony via Zoom.
Ooh cool, this good news, which mean virtual oath will be done.
