Hey Canadianinlove,

No we didn't get anything official as a receipt from Port of Spain. We applied Feb 18. On April 21 they approved me as sponsor, which we learned about on May 6th when they emailed us to tell us that they had received our application on Feb 18 (so that was a Canadian acknowledgement, not PoS). The next status update that our application had was May 19th when it said In Process. Because we knew we had been approved on the Canadian side we assumed that meant it was in process in Trinidad but we were never formally informed of its receipt here.

That was the last we heard (May 19th) until July 29 when they updated it to say that they had received my husband's medicals (which he had done upfront in Jan 2015 before we submitted the application). Then July 31 they emailed asking for his passport (which doesn't show online yet).

Thanks for the DHL tip. I was told that both they and Fedex don't do local deliveries but DHL told me if I bring it to their office, they'll deliver it. Phew!

My husband is a Trini. We're both in Trinidad. :)

PS if anyone can tell me how to update the little profile on the left of our chats, I'll do it!!

Ohhhhhh. So you need to be a seasoned forum-er. I'm pretty sure I could still come up with a hundred questions so that won't be a problem. :)

I am new to this site, been reading thru the posts for some time and totally understand the frustration of waiting, as I am in the same bracket. I live in Trinidad, hubby lives in Canada. CIC, POS asked me to provide FBI clearance because I stayed in USA for 6 months in 2004 (which I don't understand why because I have a valid US VISA re-issued in 2007 and valid until 2017) anyways as they requested I sent my application to the FBI on May 21, 2015 and when I called them last week they are still looking at application received early May month. This week is my 11th week waiting and their website states it takes 11 - 13 weeks to process and also allow additional timing for delivery. Any one applied for FBI clearance and still waiting or received their report sometime recently ... ???

Hi DSM - applied for my Hubby's FBI report as he is currently living in the US. I took us 4 months in total to get the report from the FBI. The FBI put in a new system last year and instead of 4- 6 week it was 3 - 6 months. Very frustrating I know because we had to wait.

Welcome and I look forward to hearing about your updates :)

;D that is what we all say! I have been waiting since April 7, 2015 with no acknowledgement other than they have give us SA. I don't know if our file is in POS or what is happening. A little frustrated that others are moving through the process quickly - so wish I was one of them. But complaining won't get me anywhere. Lots of positive thinking and prayers help me from going completely crazy ::) ???

I at least get to look forward to my hubby coming to Canada for a visit this month. Haven't seen him since May.

Hey Canadianinlove,

How did you manage to get them to let your husband visit? When I tried when I was pregnant and in Canada they outright denied us, twice! I spoke to an immigration lawyer who told me not to waste my time trying anymore because they'll likely always deny him since he has a legal right to stay as my husband. Curious to know how you got through!

My hubby is currently living in the US he is not permanent there so his temporary green card lets him travel between Canada and US. We originally applied to have his file process through Ottawa since he is in the US but CIC said that he has to be processed through POS because of his country of nationality.

I think that is why we are waiting longer than some people, we are probably in a pile that requires more work or review or something. So I guess the positive he can visit but the negative is that it is taking longer.

I can't believe that he wasn't able to come up while you were pregnant that is really too bad.

They are allowed to keep the passport for 12 weeks. With that being said it looks like on average it is taking about 4-6 weeks for return typically 4 weeks. Hope this helps and welcome to the forum - why don't you tell us a little bit about your process so we can understand how long your process took.
If you are waiting for the PP to be returned you are pretty much finished. ;D

Ah, that makes sense. I guess being in the states is good for visitation but like you say, bad for processing! Staying positive helps me not to pull my hair out. :p Plus whenever I think its taking too long I just remember that PoS gives themselves 16 MONTHS to do the processing so anything faster than that is a lot quicker than most things happen down here. Lol
