Wanted to post an update for those who may be interested... we finally got through! You may remember that PoS asked for my husband's passport on July 31, but our status online never changed to Decision Made. Then on August 10, 6 days after receiving the passport, they emailed us asking for a...

Hey Triniluv2117, Guide 3900 is a pretty helpful list of what you need for your application - the documents that you need depend on your situation, so its hard to list them for you. :) http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp This page on the CIC website will...

I can't imagine how frustrating that is! Just wanted to let you know that another avenue for finding out what is going on is to talk to your local MP's office and ask them to do an inquiry into your file. I've done it twice - can't remember what the first one was for, lol, but I just asked again...

Yeah if you paid a lawyer I bet it was more than that! :0 Hmmm... maybe we all need to get jobs as immigration consultants! Lol Thanks for the pep talk. I'm going to keep the faith, and in my head I'm going to write a snarky letter to the Canadian government complaining about all this. :)

It's pretty frustrating because the application clearly says "in the last five years have you lived anywhere other than your country of residence for more than six months" (not a direct quote!), so we ticked no because technically he never lived in Grenada but he did stay for 5 months once...

Oh people... commiserate with me! :( The embassy asked for my husband's passport on October 31. Today they emailed asking for us to get a criminal record check from Grenada. Sigh. We lived there for five months straight, and he stayed there for three months at a time off and on over a couple...

Ah, that makes sense. I guess being in the states is good for visitation but like you say, bad for processing! Staying positive helps me not to pull my hair out. :p Plus whenever I think its taking too long I just remember that PoS gives themselves 16 MONTHS to do the processing so anything...

Hey Canadianinlove, How did you manage to get them to let your husband visit? When I tried when I was pregnant and in Canada they outright denied us, twice! I spoke to an immigration lawyer who told me not to waste my time trying anymore because they'll likely always deny him since he has a...

Ohhhhhh. So you need to be a seasoned forum-er. I'm pretty sure I could still come up with a hundred questions so that won't be a problem. :)

Hey Canadianinlove, No we didn't get anything official as a receipt from Port of Spain. We applied Feb 18. On April 21 they approved me as sponsor, which we learned about on May 6th when they emailed us to tell us that they had received our application on Feb 18 (so that was a Canadian...

I'm glad I declined it cause guess what?? IT HAPPENED? They asked for his passport this morning! I've been rendered useless. Giddy and useless. Ha ha ha Here's a question - does anyone know a good reputable local courier? Apparently DHL and Fedex don't do local deliveries and I don't want to...

Thanks Mrs. Trini, I guess I knew this was the case but I was ever so hopeful! In fact if my timeline goes twice as fast as yours I'll be happy! You're a lucky duck! :)

Canadianinlove, do you mind if I politely decline your understanding? Or even pretend I didn't read it? Ha ha ha ;) Thanks for the info. I guess I continue to wait. :)

Hello fellow worriers and waiters! :) I have what may be a silly question.... This morning I checked our status online and they've added something about medicals being received so it now reads: 1. We received your application for permanent residence on February 18, 2015. 2. We started...

Thanks! I'm hopeful... even though it's tough to stay positive sometimes! I wish they would update their system more, though I get that that would take away processing time... A friend of my is from England and she sponsored her husband from Grenada and they have a pay system where you can pay...

I think it takes a lot longer to get through here, but at least you'd be together! :) I'm sure DHL will get a signature too - the embassy must get a ton of deliveries every day and they wouldn't acknowledge it if you emailed them about it, so the only way we can know if something is delivered...

Hey Canadianinlove! Sorry I wasn't clear - my husband is a Trini but was in Grenada for work, as was I, when we met. I'm Canadian. We moved to Trinidad after we found out that I was pregnant. At this point I go home to Canada every three months for a visit to get around the immigration issues...

Hello everyone! I've been dealing with this immigration thing for almost a year, and I've been reading this chat forum for quite a while so I decided I'd share our story and see if anyone has anything they'd like to share with me. I'm feeling like I'm on a bit of an island with regards to this...
