June 19 is recognized as Labour Day in Trinidad (similar to Labor Day in Canada). It's recognized as an official holiday which means government buildings, banks, etc. are closed. My husband said everythibg was closed yeaterday in TnT. Trinidad has many holidays and diplomats observe Trinidad and Canadian holidays. Given the information GiGi shared about the strike, I'm sure they weren't working anyways.
I think GiGi's MP was giving her the reality of the how long an ARC could take (similar to processing times, ot may take 19 months for some and others significantly shorter) and although it is VERY discouraging, I only hope it won't be that long to process the ARC. As someone else said, 'Hope for the best and expect the worst'.

Have a blessed day!

16-05-2013
I did send them a CSE asking why we were told 2 weeks and its been 6. And I just got an email today saying that the application is in process and with the officer and no action is required on our part. They person who write the email didn’t even answer my question on how long am I going to be waiting for. It seemed like a general email they send everyone.
Zouk Princesse your medicals expired? When do they expire, because we got ours last August and if we are still waiting by then this is added time and more costs.
Millslu how do you know the ARC only takes 2-3months. And when you left Canada did you leave when they said to leave or did you over stay?

Everyday seems to be a holiday in Trinidad. Like I don’t understand how its fair they get the Canadian holidays AND the Trini holidays. That’s why processing times keep increasing because they cant keep up because they are always on holiday. And now they are striking to work less. Do they even work at all. Sometimes I think about trying to get a job there just to see the insides and try to speed things up.

When my husband was in the interview she told him in a snarky way, that he still needs to apply for the ARC after we get a decision. Some people get answers on the spot if they are satisfied with the interview and others they need to dig for more information. I don’t know what she is looking for. But you were really lucky. And you already had the ARC submitted so you saved yourself a lot of time.
I don’t know how to post the timeline on the side. Maybe you can tell me how but for now here it is:

Our medicals had expired about 1 week before we received PPR, and the extension request took about 8 weeks, so unfortunately yes, this does add to the wait. You could try sending a CSE to see if they'll let you redo on your own given the time is approaching, however, as you said, they didn't address your last question, so it's possible they won't now either. Also, since you have to wait on the ARC, it might coincide with the meds extension, so might not add a delay in your case.

You'll be able to complete your profile info after 10 posts, so just 6 more to go! :)

Hi GIGI... I would say (and it is only my opinion) that if the officer said to your husband he needed an ARC, it would be a favourable outcome of the interview because if she was going to deny him she wouldn't discuss an ARC. It is difficult because you don't want to read too much into it. You could always order the case notes (it takes 30 days to get them) but you can see what has been done and what is outstanding in your file. You got an interview very quickly!!
With the medicals, I think if you are close to finishing at the 12 month expiry then the IO asks for an extension from Ottawa and the medicals are usually extended up until 15 months.

Have a great day everyone!

They haven't directly asked for the ARC, but because she discussed it with him I would say that is a positive. It's hard to say how long an ARC takes for sure. Usually they complete the interview and start background checks after a successful interview. The background checks and ARC are processed simultaneously, I think anyways. From what I've read from other VO's they are usually processed at 2-3 months, but that information doesn't pertain specifically to POS. I've only read confusedandscared (went through the POS office) post on his experience with the ARC. I think his was longer than the 2-3 month mark. Not 100% sure though. We don't know the exact process each IO takes so its hard to predict, but sounds like something is going on with both of your files! Just hurry up already though POS!

I thought the exact same thing you guys are saying, if she spoke about the ARC then that must be a good sign. But..
The reason she told him about the ARC was because last June he came to Canada (we were misinformed) and we didn’t know he wasn’t allowed to be here without one. It’s a long story but basically at the airport he needed one and he was sent back to St Vincent the next day. So in the interview they spoke about how he came back to Canada only to leave again and she said you need an ARC to go back. So not really giving the assumption that the interview was good, but rather to knowledge him with the mistake he made. If you can understand what I mean.
I want to request the notes, but I feel a lot of their decisions there are not based on process rather than emotions. So I am scared to get them angry cause they might be like okay she wants to request notes and make more work for me then ill just make them wait. But then on the other hand I think, if I request them, it will light a fire so that they can be like oh ya I have this case I need to complete and get off my desk. So im torn.
How do you even request them anyway. Just write the email to CSE?
Also Millslu what do you mean the ARC is 2 weeks 2?

The process of returning to Canada after being removed is difficult to understand. I'm assuming your husband had an exclusion order for either 1 or 2 years. If you read CBSA's website it says with an exclusion order, if you stay out of Canada for the 1 or 2 year exclusion order you can re- enter Canada without an ARC after this time passes, however should one want to re- enter before the exclusion order is lifted one must submit an ARC. What I see CIC doing is completely opposite of this. CIC requests an ARC regardless of how much time has passed so I can see how you were misinformed. What is said is different then what is done. Sorry you had this experience. You can read others experience with ARC's by going to the main page and searching ARC's.

In terms of the notes... You can also go to the main page and see others discussion on the notes. Ordering the notes doesn't have an overall impact on your file processing. Every file has notes kept on it electronically and will show what is happening with your file and what things are outstanding. When you request the notes, the request doesn't go directly to the IO. The notes are requested and scanned/ printed in Canada, therefore I don't even know if the officer knows you requested the notes. Requesting the notes on your file is your right to your information and that is why this service is provided. It helps to keep the process as transparent as possible.
You have to order the notes from within Canada and you require your husbands permission to order the notes because he is the applicant. There is a form for him to sign. To request the notes you go to the website below. They cost 5$ to process. Someone of the main board recently posted a walk- thru video on how to request the notes. I would say a large portion of people request their notes, but do your research and make sure it is something comfortable for you. Maybe some of the senior members could weigh in and discuss if it was helpful for them. I've just ordered mine about a week ago so I can't share what was in mine yet.

Congrats on your second year wedding anniversary! Must feel great your husband is here with you! Enjoy Niagara Falls! CONGRATS!

Where is the rest of the forum family? Things have been quiet lately, well actually for a long time.
MissD: I know you were feeling awful after seeing your notes. This process is taking much longer than you thought. It's painful. I hope you get some time with your partner!

Fromadistance: haven't seen you for a while. I know you are grieving and some days are good and some are terrible. I hope hubby gets to come soon. I'm sure it will help to have him as a source of support.

And to CdnandTrini: just wanted to say HI to you. We continue to think of you and hope our thoughts and prayers are keeping you strong!

Hope to see everyone posting again when they are ready. This process is difficult and really pulls us down. Sometimes we just need a break from the forum. Have a good day!
