It's been 10 weeks now and I am still awaiting the return of my pp. Can anyone say if they had similar experience?

Well well I'm back from vacay with my hubby...I sent a request of info on July 12th and got it August 13th... I just don't quite understand it all.. But sound ok... One thing is for sure my hubby medical is extended.. And he has a foss id.. Just keep on praying it come quickly...

Does anyone know how to speed up the process of getting your marriage certificate in Canada sent back to you (I don't want to wait 8 weeks after getting married to file my application)

Go to their website an make your application for the marriage certificate. They usually say 12 weeks or so but some people have had it earlier.
You can also submit the other part of the marriage licence with your application. CIC will accept that.

What do you mean by other part. Sorry I have not gotten married yet so am not sure what you are referring to ???

When you receive the marriage licence from the authority who issue it, it is divided into 2 sections. Both sections are completed by the officiating minister/registrar, 1 section is then sent off to have the marriage registered so that you can obtain a marriage certificate and make you marriage legal. The other section is given to the bride & groom. this is the part I'm speaking of. I think it is called the Solemization of Sermony or something like that.

Good news everyone .My husband's PR request is here . Ecas shows in process

Started processing application August 17th

He has to submit another FBI clearance I'm assuming because it expired .
Not sure hopefully its just a copy that has to be sent to him and he does not have to
Do it all over again .

Anyone have suggestions for health/life insurance companies that would let me add my COMMON-LAW partner who is still in the caribbean? I currently have (terrible) insurance through my university and I am going to cancel it (it covers nothing and they won't let me add him). It will not only be extra proof to submit to our application later, but I truly do need to update my health/life insurance.

Would appreciate advice/suggestions!

have you tried life insurance through your bank, I think BMO has some life insurances where you can add the beneficiary it doesnt matter which country.
because my common-law got some accidental death insurance through bmo and they let him add me, and all they asked for was my name, and birthdate im pretty sure.
try at your bank? they might have some options that would work.

Hmmmm...that is quite odd. I haven't heard of that before. Have you tried contacting them to get their reasoning?

Had you ordered your gcms notes at any point? They might make mention of what POS is thinking around the FBI clearance. I mean those things take a good 8 weeks to get, I don't see them putting someone through that just randomly.

So we sent off the passport and requested PC today. Now it's just a matter of waiting on our medical certificate extension. I plan on emailing POS next week to check on that status.

Why do you have to get a PC ? Did it expire or is this the first time they are requesting one ?
My husband's medicals and pc expires until October .
He sent all the documents all at once to the lawyer .

They want one from Dominica as my husband went back there for a few months while we were waiting on this process. Figured it was a great opportunity for a little sabbatical you know. Technically I do not believe they should be requesting it, as he has not resided there for >6 months, but at this point, I don't have the strength to question them.

They did not however request any redo's of the US ones we initially sent
