Go to their website an make your application for the marriage certificate. They usually say 12 weeks or so but some people have had it earlier.Nigea said:Congratulations Natley... this gives us all hope.
Does anyone know how to speed up the process of getting your marriage certificate in Canada sent back to you (I don't want to wait 8 weeks after getting married to file my application)

You can also submit the other part of the marriage licence with your application. CIC will accept that.
When you receive the marriage licence from the authority who issue it, it is divided into 2 sections. Both sections are completed by the officiating minister/registrar, 1 section is then sent off to have the marriage registered so that you can obtain a marriage certificate and make you marriage legal. The other section is given to the bride & groom. this is the part I'm speaking of. I think it is called the Solemization of Sermony or something like that.Nigea said:What do you mean by other part. Sorry I have not gotten married yet so am not sure what you are referring to ???

I currently have (terrible) insurance through my university and I am going to cancel it (it covers nothing and they won't let me add him). It will not only be extra proof to submit to our application later, but I truly do need to update my health/life insurance.
Would appreciate advice/suggestions!
Thanks
