Good morning to all my fellow POS peeps! Another day... We are booked to go to Trinidad in March, so I'm focusing on that as a short term goal, as I know I won't be hearing from POS anytime soon.

Question... As they randomly pop into my head and I know I'm way ahead of myself here. When POS issues a VISA how long do you have to land typically? I'm assuming they put restrictions on that. Also, when my husband lands what happens at the airport? What types of questions will immigration ask him? I know he will have a VISA, but will they still give him the run down? We most likely will travel down and come back with him, but curious if the process!

Have a great day everyone.

You will have until the expiration of his medicals or of his passport, whichever is sooner.
They usually ask if your family circumstances has changed in anyway, have you gotten into any trouble with the law, your address in Canada, etc. No run down as you put it.

It depends. Since the applicant (not the sponsor) is the one being contacted to send his/her visa or attend an interview, it SHOULD technically go to the applicant. However, if you listed your sponsor's email/address/phone number for your contact information, obviously that's who they will contact. In my case, me and my partner signed the "Use of Representative" form (you may have signed it too, using your legal representative as yours). That means that even though my hubby is the applicant, we both signed that I am the representative for us, meaning his documents should be sent to me (passport request, interview request, etc). So far, that is what happened (his AOR from POS was sent to me instead of him). But sometimes even when the sponsor asks to have the documents sent to them and fills out the representative form, I've heard of correspondence being sent to the applicant instead.

Basically, it's always safe to look out in both places for it. They are supposed to contact the applicant (not the sponsor) about stage 2 decisions, but sometimes will contact the sponsor if asked to (on representative form) or if the sponsor's info is listed as the contact info on your application (for whatever reason).

bajan246 did they contact your wife (sponsor) instead of you because you made your wife your representative on the "Use of Representative" form?

@Millslu, your wife can definitely keep an eye out. If she signed the use of rep form, she HAS to look out for the documents coming to her. If you signed it and put your legal rep's name, THEY have to watch out for the documents. If you did not fill out the use of rep form, they will likely contact you and may contact your wife, but most likely it will be you.

Hi Dadzin,

Welcome to the POS forum.. Wow! February.. and I was getting impatient at 5 months.. you've definitely waited longer than us. Since you are having to sponsor your children, I assume you are not a Canadian citizen? Are you a PR?

So your App was filed Feb 22 2012
Sponsor approval/transfer to POS Ma 23 2012

Did you get an AOR (Acknowledgement of Receipt) of the date your file actually GOT to POS (not the date it was sent)?

Congrats on your growing family! Adding a dependent in the middle of the process may delay your application a bit. Not because it's frowned upon or anything, but if you think about it, you would need to wait for the paperwork for the child, it's transfer, your application would have to be pulled and update with the new information, etc. If there is a delay, it would likely be due to waiting for the paperwork and having to update your file.

Being in Canada does not cause a delay. People who apply inland (application stays in Canada, never goes foreign to POS or anywhere) have longer processing because they are not priority but outland applications would not be delayed because you are in Canada. In fact, as a sponsor, it is better for you to be in Canada. When you say you "sent them back" you mean your wife and child, correct? That's hard.. especially with her being pregnant, but health care without insurance is a big issue so I see why you would decide that.

You CAIPS notes should be sent to you 30 days after you applied for them. They should give you helpful information on how your file is progressing so far.

I hope I have answered all of your questions. Please confirm the date POS received your file (if you got an AOR) and we will add you to the spreadsheet (you can click the link under my profile in the bottom that says "POS spreadsheet"and it will give you information about everyone's timelines on this site).

If you have any questions - I'd love to help and if I don't know the answer, someone will.

Welcome and congrats again!

So I received my CAIPS notes. It showed that my wife passed her medical and my daughters' was "in progress". This was updated since June 2012, since then POS didn't touch the file. The notes also show that an interview is required as no docs were sudmitted to establish proof of when when relationship started...we met in 2008 on Facebook and has since deleted those accounts...not sure how we will obtain this proof...

Hi Dadzin,

Glad you got your notes. It is upsetting to hear that they haven't touched your file since June, but just because they didn't touch it doesn't mean stuff wasn't being done. Maybe they are waiting for background checks or something and just waiting until they get back to update your file. Does it say when you will be asked for an interview? As for the proof, if you deleted it, there's not much you can do. You can tell them in person how you met. I would also get notarized letters from your family, friends, co-workers, whatever, saying that they noticed you two started to date in 2008 (month) and met you as a couple in X year, etc. That way even though they wont see the start of the relationship, there will be plenty of witnesses saying they have known you since the beginning. Getting a notary to sign makes it more stable proof, instead of just heresay, too.

Do your notes list a BFD (Bring-forward date) indicating when they are supposed to be working on your app again?

Ah yes, that makes sense. Bajan (applicant) got the interview email, which makes sense, because he was the one that had to attend the interview.

As I said, your next step info should be coming to you millslu, as the applicant, as long as you didnt sign a use of representative form. But it won't hurt to keep your wife busy checking her phone, it will help pass the time for her lol

No bring forward date listed, maybe I'm not seeing it. This was the officers' note
Date: July 25 2012
"subject stated she has been communicating with sponsor since NOV 2008. However no docs to show proof of communication fm 2008.
Interview Required JG: Convoke. Docs for int:- additional relationship docs to present, - proof of communication docs fm NOV 2008 to present, BC, ppt photos and ppt details for baby dtr. "

Also note that CAIPS says "in progress" for application status however e-cas still says "application received"...

Something note mentioning is:

ASSIGNMENTS
Assigned to: ******
Assigned by ******
DUE DATE: 2012/09/05

To me this means that our file was assigned and it was due for completion by that date...but something happened...or nothing happened...
