Yes Dadzin, they are the ones that sends it to CIC so you'll need to check with them.

Obtaining a US visa is different that a Canada Visa... did you mean Canada visa?

Yes it is but I needed an FBI Clearance because I lived in the US for two years. My point to CIC was that because I was granted a US Visa, that should constitute clearance of criminal activities in itself.

Canada doesn't base it visa decision on US clearance. While this may prove you're clear in the US it's not an indicator for a Canadian visa as admissibility requires several different criterias to be met. Still when those are met if the officer has a bad feeling the law provides approval at their discretion.

If you were a criminal in the US, yes it certainly will weigh heavily on your application (thats the reason they ask for it.) If you've lived in any other country besides your country of citizenship for more than six months you are required to provide police clearance, be it Japan, Mongolia or wherever. I was required to submit police clearance but because I was none the wiser I submitted an NYPD Clearance and was asked to get the FBI Clearance, hence the delay in my approval. Further, beginning this year Canada will start to cross reference applicants with US law enforcement to establish whether they have been involved in terrorist activities etc. (there has been an uproar against this by Canadian human rights groups, that claim this could lead to a disaster for some families especially if the applicant may have had some previous issue and their names were subsequently cleared but for some reason are still on the "bad behavior" list.)

So it is not the single indicator, however, it is among them.

Hey Dadzin...I called the medical offices that the medicals were done with. Only Barbados kept the tracking number for my husbands medical. Jamaicas office only had the day the medical was received in Canada and how many other medicals were sent with it (69 they say.)

Still waiting to hear something about the lost medicals!! The lady who did my husbands interview said they would right our immigration consultant an email...which she has not received as of yet...1 week later.

What email address do you send stuff to at POS??? I am going to write them today regarding the lost medicals...cause a little smoke!

Hey Fromadistance, I have not contacted POS nor has my husband but we were thinking to contact them by the end of this week, which is tommorow, if we do not get an IN PROCESS status update.

Hahaha, long time no hear from! It truly does depend on everyone's individual application. I think they do have standard timelines for each applicant but based on the application submitted and of course the number of applicants and employees around to address those files, response times will vary. We saw a lot of responses in November and Decemer because it was the end of the year and I do think that some officers may not have returned until second week of January which may have made things worst. If you are confident that you submitted a well organized application, you will be fine.

BTW, if they are persons reading these posts that may not have applied as yet and are considering getting an immigration lawyer to help with your submission, think again. Unless your application is complicated (adoption, may have been previously deported) viewing our thread combined with all the others should get you all the info you need. To me it seems like by using a representative, you bring more scrutiny to you application but this is only my assumption. I am not sure what is holding up those February applications but again, we should remember that everyone's situation maybe slightly or majorly different from each other. So in essence, keep the faith darling.

Yes, that's the end. You are about to be issued the visa! Congratulations!!!

Follow the directions and send a prepaid envelope for them to return your documents from the office. All of this should be in your letter.

Could you please tell us the following:

What country are you from?
Did you apply outland through POS?
When did you first send your application to Mississauga?
When were you approved as sponsor?
When did POS receive your application from Canada?
Did POS ever ask you for any documents during the process or request anything from you?
Did you need an interview?
When did you receive this letter/email saying that your process is about to be finalized (the one you posted above)?
Did you have any complications or delays in your case? (kids, previous marriages, previous deportations, missing information, etc)
This info will help us understand how fast things are processing and we can add it to our spreadsheet for future reference.

This is bajan246's first time posting in our group. But from his/her history I know that he/she is from Barbados and was asked to submit RRPF fee, new police report, and also a new medical in August 2012 and has been waiting since then for this letter.

That's about it. Hopefully they will share more about their experience with us when they sign on next
