It states in the document checklist that it is highly recommended that you enclose your police check with your initial application. Will this need to be for myself and my fiancé?

Is there anybody that sent their application without the police check and will worry about it later down the track?

Thanks

The application could be sent without PCC initially, but PCC original is mandatory and can be submitted once you receive your AOR. Quote the AOR and send it later (as soon as you recieve your AOR).

Agree with pmpm. Make sure you start process of requesting PCC as soon as possible so that you can send them right away once you get AOR.

Thanks for that. Sorry, what is AOR? Thanks again...

Its acknowledgement of receipt for your PR application.

Another question........police checks are only valid for a year. Do our police checks need to be valid when entering Canada, when our application is being reviewed or only until our application has been confirmed?

The current process time is 13months so I would hate to get a police check now and then need to get another one due to long processing times which is out of our control.

What are other peoples experiences with this?

Thanks

The date mentioned in your police clearance certificate should be less than three months old to your application received date by Sydney.
Now, if you cannot provide a clearance certificate now, make sure you send it asap once you receive the AOR. Again, it should not be more than three months old when you send.
This has nothing to do with re-entering Canada. IN addition, the processing can take average 13 months or more/less. If they require PCC again (in some extremely delayed cases), then they would request a fresh one.

Thanks JBLoknath!
So in other words i'm best to get them now and send them along with my initial application?

I would say if you are not time-constrained (WP expiring? have to leave country? leaving job?) and not in a hurry, then get it now and send with application kit!
You have an option of sending it after the AOR, but use that option sparingly in real need. :)

sorry one more question. I lived in the UK for just under 18months. I am Australian but had a British passport as well. Will they definitely request a UK police certificate as well?

I think i will send my Australian one with the application and then obtain the UK one after if needed.

What do you think? Our only time constraint is getting the application to them within a year of leaving work in Canada which was July 2012. We want to get it in sooner rather than later obviously.

Thanks again

without question, you will need the UK police clearance. And yes, you could provide it later. But, it's very fast to get tho, so you might as well just do it -

Seems to me many countries' police depts are willing to issue police clearance without the official request from CIC...which is a good thing...for some instances the applicant has to wait for the request from CIC in order to file an application to the overseas police dept for the clearance cert...ate up at least 2 months for this step...

Ya so if your country allows you to get police clearance without any official request from CIC just do it asap...

If you are going to apply in 1-2 weeks - you have more than enough time to get you criminal record check. It took me a week to get it.
At least you will save time and avoid future delays in processing of your application.

SIGH. Read the instructions:
These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

A Canadian PCC is NOT required. CIC automatically does that for all applicants.
