Was just wondering whether you get points if your common law partner and child are both canadian

You can apply to convert your status to visitor and remain in Canada without working.

When does your Work permit expire?

You can apply for visit visa!

I'm in a similar situation, but my permit expires and 1.5 years.

Couldn't you just marry your boyfriend and get permanent residence that way? I personally don't want to get married (even though I've been with my boyfriend, who is Canadian, for years), but if it was that or getting deported I would at least consider it.

Do you know how that works? I guess the spouse would have to have money to sponsor you right? I make way more money than my partner (he is a PhD student), so I wonder how that would impact the sponsorship thing.

There is no minimum income requirement to sponsor a spouse. Many unemployed/student/low-income/stay-at-home parents successfully sponsor their spouses all the time. You just need to show IRCC that you guys can support yourselves in Canada without welfare.

Oh I see! I actually looked that up and it's a nice option! I think I should be able to get an ITA once I get my TEF done since my score is 457 right now and I should be able to get 10-15 more points with TEF, but it's good to have an alternative plan just in case
