Now I have several questions. Be patient with me please... :-[

1. You need to have entered Canada already before the COPR expires, right? So even if for example they base it on the passport which is near expiry, as long as you intend to land in Canada before that date, would it matter?

2. Is it possible to attach the new passports to the old passport (with the COPR) if for example we decide to renew it after getting the visas? Will there be any problem upon entry to Canada as the visas are stamped on the old passports and not on the new ones?

The reason why we are undecided with the passport renewal is because it takes so long to renew the passports here and we are worried that if we renew it and the PPR comes, we might not be able to hand our passports asap. Another reason is that we plan to go to the Philippines first before landing in Canada which is when we plan to renew our passports. It is faster, as far as we know, unlike here where you have to wait for months... :(

Anyways, when do you plan to land in Canada?

Seniors, any thoughts on our dilemma?

1) You are right if you plan to land in Canada very soon after getting the visa. Sending a fresh passport for visa stamping will give you more flexibility in your travel plans in case of unforeseen delays. With a fresh passport you can travel right upto your visa expiry while your current passport will be good for travel only upto Sep 2014.
2) As Roayns said, you can attach new passport to the old one (with COPR) but prior to travel, you need to send the new passports to ADVO and pay fees to amend the COPR.
3) Regardless of whether you renew or don’t renew your passports, your visa validity will be upto Feb 2015 (lower of your medical test date/passport expiry date). Assuming that you get the PPR in the next few weeks, you should be planning to travel to Canada by Sep 2014 as many airlines/countries do not allow travel with passport valid for less than 6 months. If you are not plannning to travel by Sep 2014, you should apply for new PP and get the COPR amended.
4) If your PPR comes while your passport is being renewed, you can request ADVO to give you some more time for PP submission.

Hi Mosby,
1. on my opinion it will not matter as long as you enter Canada before your CoPR expires. The problem that I can see in this is that if the point of departure (Philippines) will allow you to leave the country with a passport that is near to expire. If your passport is more than 6 months before your CoPR expires then you are OK..
2. Sorry I don't have any idea regarding this.

I am on that exact same situation after MR. (Dec.2013) Passport will expire Sept 2014. I anticipated the worst case scenario. By mid January I let my wife go home to renew her passport. She got it after 10 days.
I think you too should anticipate the worst case scenario and plan accordingly. To avoid hassles and waste of money. ( remember we will need those money when we settle) so better be wise in spending them 

Thank you very much for the insights. Very much appreciated....

hi polay,

what i did on my part was, i made an authorization letter for my family that they can process my nbi clearance for finalization.. (just to make sure that there would be no any delays or interruption, because time is important).. I sent them my un-finish NBI clearance through DHL so that they can receive the document within a week.

If I am not wrong they got my NBI clearance from the NBI HQ within a week approximately( I don't remember if there is an option to expedite the processing and if there is an extra charges) after they received the most awaited NBI clearance they immediately send it back to me through the same Courier.

It took me almost 3 weeks before i receive my NBI in saudi arabia. ;D

Appreciate your response much itGuy...goodluck on your applications...

Thank you, Members of this thread really helped me a lot to get here... I pray for them for future success..
But here they mentioned the following statement

Write your name and address on the back of the bank draft.

if that's the case it will not do any harm if you write those info at the back of the draft. by pen will do.. (it is done with cheques too.. when deposting it to the bank..)

Yes, try Manila as the processing time is much shorter. Hopefully, they'll grant your requested visa office. All the best!

Hi Pachochay! Thanks and good luck to you too!

Yes aashamsi, you are right, my application was under FSW backlog program ;)

But now I am thinking to move since they count the day before landing as 1/2 day, but still worried if PR guaranteed in 6 months time from MR?
Well as per different forum members experience (including myself), you should get PPR request in 6 to 8 month from Medical.

When your WP and Passport is expiring? Expiry on Visa stamp and WP can be different, because WP is issued at Port of Entry (it discretion of Visa officer to provide the expiry of WP), in my case he issued for 1 month extra (as compare to visa stamped expiry). Visa stamped on Passport is used to enter into Country(called counterfoil), however permit is used to work in Canada, therefore these 2 are different documents (may have different expiries).

I hope its matter of few more months (if everything is in good shape). If have existing good job then I will recommend to continue and try to save as much as possible, because its very expensive state , and difficult to get job on WP and also cant do any other job (they if he restrict to particular occupation on WP).

Best of luck.
