I completed my landing last night by flag polling. I did NOT have a US visa but the process was painless.

Reached border around 10 pm, there was no one else. Told the officer on the US side I am doing a landing and I don’t have US visa, he said no worries. Asked me to park the car and come inside. Gave me two documents to take to Canadian side.

Once at Canadian border, they asked me to come inside. In 15 minutes I was in and out. Super easy and I am formally a PR now !

Hey guys, how long can someone live outside of Canada being a permanent resident of Canada? Because I am planning to go back to my country for a while after I get my PR considering I get approved. Thanks!

Feb 9 here, no PPR yet, got my medical exam passed last Thursday (got 2 MRs and waited for 2 whole months for an update from IRCC to get my exam passed). My security check not started yet :/

Are you sure your security check is not started yet?
When you call to CIC call center, interactive voice response (IVR) will says your BG check is in process ( so secuiry check is started , right?)

I called several times and they told me that my criminality and eligibility had been done and my security not started yet (although it says ‘bg in process’)

those statuses don't mean anything, you have to talk to the actual person to see what stages of the BG are done and which are not.
Right now it looks that they've stalled security checks, not sure why.

I heard that sometimes they will start & finish security check with in 10 days.

That’s why some EE applicants getting PPR in 1-month after AOR.

sometimes they can even do it in one day...

right now it's the matter of actually getting the security check initiated, which is not happening. Some applications have been sitting in that uncertain stage for months now, just waiting for them to be sent to that security check stage. Why they are not sending them out to conduct those checks remains a mystery to me.
