It is not 100% sure, but most of time people who did up-front medical ask to do re-medical.
I did not do up-front medical and I had medical request last year March. And on GCMS note, officer sent email for extension early January this year, and finally they extended my medical 2 days ago.
So, it is totally depend on the applicant, but mine took 4 months to get extended...

Are you sure about the time for medical extension , because i know 2 cases got extension in 5 to 10 days and DM right after that .

Yup! The agent told me that.
I don't know why that simple stupid thing took me 4 months to extend.

IRCC always says security check not started and suddenly you will get DM which means the check is finished. I believe there isn't a way to know for sure. but I have read it somewhere that some cases will take 2-3 months and for some other unfortunate cases take 11 months and more . I don't know what to think on this topic......

Given that I have decision made, but the IRCC agent on the phone says I don't, I have to assume that the phone agents know nothing!

totally agree with you and that's why I don't bother to call them, clearly those people answer the phone doesn't have the up to date information on whatever the system they use.

oh by the way those people answering the phones in IRCC are not visa officers I think . they are more like call center agents if I am not mistaken . did anyone notice they keep you waiting for a short time after they learnt what questions you have and they will come back after some terrible music? as if they have to write down your questions and go line up on a computer and look up your case .

I called them about a week ago and the call center agent told me that the visa officer left a note on my case that said “security check started” The weird thing was that on my case file there was a list of things that indicated things like eligibility passed and medical passed but there it said “security check not started” but when the call center agent opened the note, it said “security check started”. Even the call center agent found it odd. I wish I had more information like when is it going to be done or at least did I pass the security check.

December 15 2017 applicant still waiting for pr. It is heart breaking to see that so many December applications are stuck where as many Feb/march 2018 applications are getting pr. That being said I am happy for them but it is so frustrating to see how cic works
