Have you applied for a change of conditions or know of anyone who has successfully managed to do it with Ontario Pnp certificate?

there is a lot of info out there that says we are eligible but most of the people I know have so far not managed to get an extension or BOWP without LMIA. Applications have been put on hold indefinitely.
Also You do not need a job offer to get a PNP. Masters and phd grads are eligible without any offers. So WP are usually open, not closed.
The WP you will get with the PNP is not exactly the same as the BOWP so don't go by what the requirements for a BOWP are.

I did not say you needed a job offer for a PNP I said you need a job offer to get a WP with your PNP. And the type of WP you get with your PNP will usually be closed.

I am going by information on the CIC website. I provided the link in the post you commented on. Please use that link if you want to confirm what I have told you.

Also this topic has been talked about a lot on this forum. There is a thread someplace here where someone emailed the CIC to ask about the WP that is available to PNP nominees before they get their AOR # from CIC and they copied the email that stated the same as what I have told you. That is that you can get a WP with your PNP nomination but you must have a written job offer and that this WP will most likely be a closed WP.

Here is the link I provided again. Scroll down to the "Find out if you are Eligible" part and click on the " Start" button. It will ask you a lot of questions and at the end it should tell you that you can apply for a WP with your PNP letter and a Job offer.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/apply_online.asp?d=1&q=n

This is exactly what comes up when I use the tool to enter my BFs information. He is a PNP nominee with a job. He has sent his PR application in but has not received an AOR yet.

Again this is directly from the CIC website when I used their on line tool.

Go to this link and do the "check your eligibility" questions. One of the questions will be "have your received a positive eligibility decision" -check no. At the end of answering all the questions it should tell you that you can apply for a WP and that you will need a written job offer, your PNP certificate and possibly another letter from the PNP (a letter of recommendation from them). You will have to contact the PNP office to ask them for that.

Don't get to stuck on the names of WP. A WP is a WP the only difference can be that some have restrictions and you will require different documentation depending on your situation.

Thanks for posting it. I am not doubting you. As you said there are many people who are on this forum in similar situations.
I called CIC as well regarding this. the PNP certificate and supporting letter makes you eligible but if the validity period of PNP certificate is expired, CIC requires LMIA. That is what I understood from the CIC officer I spoke to.

For many of us, we applied with PNP certificate for PR a while ago and our certificates are expired at this point. Hence all the worries.

I am assuming you already have AOR/file number.
You should have received letter of support with your nomination certification either ways. Otherwise call/email province to issue you one.
Just scroll up a few posts and you will find the link. Its on CIC website. Just apply for WP online. There is not much process to it. Login, enter your info, attach docs, pay, submit.

Have you used the tool in the link I provided? Scroll down and click on start. This will bring you to a tool that will ask you questions. Based on your answers it should tell you what you need to do next.

You could also phone or email the PNP office in the province you are nominated from and ask them if you need a letter of recommendation or if your PNP approval letter is good enough. I think needing a letter of recommendation or not depends on what province you are nominated from.

But please use the link and the tool here and it should help.

Thanks for the info!
I was in Canada earlier but had to leave because i got nomination after WP expired. So, new WP had to be applied outisde of Canada. And my PR application is in process with application received mid-april. Looks like it still is going to be a long wait.

I applied for new WP way back in May 2014 but it was refused 'Potential Immigration, No strong ties to home country'

The link you sent says i am eligible and the last time also i applied with all the docs which came up at the end.
Was thinking of trying once again. I don't recollect getting recommendation letter with Nomination.

Thanks

If you applied to CIC a while ago then you should get the AOR # soon and you could apply for a BOWP. You could use the link I provided to enter the information as you would if you had the AOR number already and it will tell you what you need (for example if you need a LIMA) to get the BOWP.

I wouldn't always go by what the people say when you call CIC. I have heard many people getting wrong answers from them. I am not saying that they are always wrong but always go by an answer you find on the CIC website over what a person says on the phone.

So as I said use the link I have provided and you could get answers you are looking for.

Also I have read posters on other forums that have go WP while they were waiting for PR either with just a PNP certificate and job offer or with their AOR # and job offer and I don't remember them ever saying they needed a LIMA for the WP.

I believe you can get WP extended with PNP Nomination certificate if it is not yet expired.
Say, if you got Nomination after WP expired, it is as good as a new WP application. I think you can also extend it even if you have WP expired not beyong 90 days (which is staus restoration)

Nowhere i came across process for case where new WP is to be applied.

Glad we have a common place to share our thoughts.
:)

Thanks

I think some provinces need a recommendation letter and some don't (I think it depends on what is already stated on the LOA) and some provinces send it with your LOA and some wait until you request one. My BF did not get a recommendation letter with his LOA but his LOA stated his position and where he works. So I am thinking that may be enough.

Also it may have been easier if you had applied from within Canada. And I can see why they could deny you if they feel you don't have strong enough connections in your home country. From their perspective they want to know that in the off chance that you do not get PR that you will not try to stay in Canada. I believe that you can try to reapply, it will depend on who looks at your file. But if they told you why you got denied and it had nothing to do with documentation.

Also did you apply with just the PNP letter or did you use your AOR number from CIC. I am assuming that you had your AOR # when you applied for your PR. Can I ask what documentation was asked for? It could be helpful to many posters here to know what kind of documentation you had to submit.

It was the same documentations we get at the very end of the eligibility link you posted.
Wish they would have allowed me to apply from within Canada.

There was no specific reason given for the WP rejection. I did not have AOR from CIC when i earlier applied for WP which got rejected. Now i have AOR and status is 'Application Received'

Below link says some statement from province can be used, may be i will try on those lines and talk to Alberta PNP office

Thanks

Hi!
Thank you!
I already did those questions and I got checklist of my documents I need to attach.
They only thing I don't understand is:
In the form IMM 5710 in the part DETAILS OF INTENDED WORK IN CANADA #1 says "What type of work permit are you applying for?" and options to choose:

- co-op work permit
- exemption of labour market opinion
- labour market opinion stream
- open work permit
- other
What do I choose if my WP is not gonna be BOWP?

Another question is in checklist based on my answers, there is a requirement
"Document: Proof that you Meet the Requirements of the Job Being Offered

If your intended occupation in Canada is regulated, provide evidence that the responsible provincial, territorial or professional body has granted you the required licence or certification.

Regulated occupations
Opens a new window
are also called professions, skilled trades or apprenticeable trades
."
Is this where I should attach a letter of recommendation from PNP? I do have a great letter from my employer... I thought that is enough... OR do I just attach my AINP certificate again?
I wish I could call CIC but its closed already and its Friday...
