Thank you so much! It means a lot to me
I just wanted to make sure, so you mean I don't need to go to border when I get my passport back? And apply for PRTD when I'm out of canada during my vacation? I guess there is no problem with leaving canada, right? I'll be staying in my country for 3 weeks and I'm just scared.. Just in case I can't get the PRTD right away before I leave frommy country.
I'll call cic later. Thanks a lot!
Hi friend,
After you get the PPR, send your passport to CIC for stamping. Now you have 2 options regarding your home country visit:
- DO NOT go for landing at border. Just go to your home country and come back before the last data mentioned in landing instructions. That way you'll do your landing at the airport itself. The system will automatically apply for your PR card. It will take ~3 months to arrive. I hope you don't have any out of the country trip planned during these 3 months.
- Go for landing at US border and come back to Canada. Again, the system applies for your PR card automatically. Now, you can go to your home country. Apply for PRTD while being there. Once you receive that, you can travel back to Canada.
Personally, I would delay my trip to home country if possible. If you can't postpone it, go for option 1. Hope this helps.
PS: The condition of having PR card applies strictly to commercial carrier travel. If you can land in US and drive from there, you don't need PR card.
