Arrival at Canadian High commission- The night before, the cab driver told me that we needed to get out of east legon very early to beat the rush hour, so we set out very early the next day for the Canadian High Commission. By 6:30am, we had arrived the high commission and there were already two people on the queue. The 1st person on the queue turned out to be a PR applicant from Nigeria ( a shadow forumite), soon the queue began to swell as people began to come, we had to wait till 7:45 when the gates were opened and we began to file in. The consular officer just collected our passports with passport photographs and the PPR letter and asked me to come back at 2pm. I was surprised that she didn't ask for the IMM008 form that was included in my PPR as something to bring. Femoo was told to bring his Police Certificate in his PPR, don't know if they collected it from him.
We spent the waiting period catching breakfast at a nice lounge in the neighborhood of the high commission. After breakfast it was off to Osu to buy somethings. We killed some time off at Papaye sipping some juice and bottles of water. Femo was excellent company. We traded war stories on the hurdles we had to cross to get to PPR stage.at 1:30pm we decided to head back to the high commission. Hmm! We entered a cab that took us to independence square instead of independence avenue, time was running out.Femo and I were getting frantic. Then we ran into heavy traffice"Haba, which kin wishi be this?". We eventually arrived the high commission at 2:15pm sweating like Christmas goat.
After another wait of about 1-1/2hours , the consular officer began to call out names, the first batch name no dey, Femoo name dey. The second batch was called my name didn't turn up. I was thinking several things; did I use the right passport size and all that?. Just when I was about to conclude a denial was in the offing, my name was called. I picked up the passports with Visa issued and Femoo and I made a run for the airport. We arrived Kotoka airport with enough time to catch the air flight back to Lagos.
And so the Lord did it for us, after 6 long years of anxiety. All Glory to His name. What an amazing God.
