So, you can get your prints taken in Montreal even if you're applying outland?

Sure can, or at least I did :) I got everything done in Montreal: prints, medical, etc...

With the prints, as long as the FBI (in my case, since I'm American) gets prints to check your record, I'm pretty sure they don't mind where it comes from. The prints just need to be on the special fingerprint form, which the fingerprint place had on hand for me, too! The FBI seemed to have no problems sending it back up here either.

Awesome! I just found out that my finger prints expire in 3 weeks and I'm unsure if I'm going to have my application done by then... but I'm trying, and now that I know that if something isn't here in time then I won't have a problem renewing my FBI check without leaving the country!

Sent prints in by Fedex June 7. Received FBI clearance back on August 10. Longer delay due to credit card snafu.

Can anyone tell me how long the PCC is good for? Thanks in advance!

CIC should receive them within 3 months of being issued; they are valid for 12 months (i.e, once they are older than 12 months CIC may ask for a new PCC)

mailed it out July 20th
FBI received it July 24th
I received it in the mail July 21st

So if they have to receive it in 30 days does that mean receive the package or review it? Like if I mailed it a week before the clearance is no longer "valid" is that ok? I didn't realize there was a 3 month window and now only have a month before it's up. We are no where near completing the app but will make it top priority if we need to make it work.

CIC needs to receive it within 3 months (not 30 days).

Sorry I meant 90 not 30. It doesn't look like we'll have the app done in time anyway. Bummer.

That stinks :(. The good news is that the FBI seems to be processing requests in 4-5 weeks now so if you send off the prints for a new one now you should get it in time for when you wrap up your application :)
