I am currently in Vancouver looking to move to Toronto asap with family of spouse and 1 child of abt 3 years.
Does anyone know of place where we can stay ,any input will be useful.
Initially, if u don't have any one to assist, u may like to pre-book one of the temp. Short Stay Accoms. SafeHomeStay is pretty good - cheap, comfy, nice neighborhood... besides Thomas is a nice fellow. There r other options too, like Studio6, Motel6, Best Western-Mississauga/Brampton, Comfort Inn etc.canaimmi said:Qorax, any inputs please?

1) http://www.safehomestay.com/
2) http://www.staystudio6.com/
*Both provide a/port pick-up services. The places are used by many satisfactorily.

As u settle down here u may shift on long term rentals to any of the locales depending upon your choice.
1. If Toronto-Main is desirable, then North York is pretty cool - prices r better, housing is fairly new, proximity to Downtown, good connectivity etc. Especially the Yonge St. & it's intersections r wise areas. Scarborough is Ok - but better avoided, I can give u reasons off the open forum. While in downtown, anything around Spadina, Dundas, Univ. Ave, Bloor, parts of Bathurst etc. might be avoided too - due to congestion, higher rental costs etc.
2. If the City Main is not desired, then the suburbia of Mississauga, Malton, Brampton & Markham (in the same order) in the GTA can lead u to a peaceful life, besides family friendly environs; and which are closest to the Toronto-Downtown. A little afar can fetch u lower rents, but the commute could be a killer. While, even if u don't possess a car (initially) & reside in the first 4 locales - u can manage w/out a veh. All these places r well connected by TTC, some bang-on location, while some might require a short ride to the nearest Subway. City busses run from these suburbs to the nearby subways.
Can go on more, but guess it's not required @ this stage...

$750 ones r available, but not in desirable locations. Think in line of $1000-1200 for fair localities. And $1200-1400 for good neighborhoods.canaimmi said:Qorax, any idea how much would the rent be in Mississauga for furnished studio or 1 bed..my budget is about 750$ all inclusive, which areas should I be looking at?

Thanks a lot for the detailed info. Actually, we are planning to land Toronto next year beginning and Scarborough is our tentative destination. But reading your thread, we are little confused. Can you pls inform me/PM the negative things if any about Scarborough. We consists of me my wife and 2 kids. daughter with 12 years and son with 8 years of age. Why we selected Scarborough is that we have only one known friend in Toronto and she lives in Scarborough. Also, she promised us to get rented accommodation and other initial helps....
We also think that if stay somewhere near Downtown, getting a job will be easy... Please guide us...
By the by we finished our meds and waiting for PPR from London!!
