Thanks a lot! Really hope and pray this time you'll make it to the finish line...and one day will meet in manitoba! Am also still processing my applcation and so with all of my children.

Hi ohanne,

I really do hope so. I want to start my new life as soon as possible. I have wasted enough time trying to build a new life in UK and because I was only on student visa, I had trouble changing my visa status (can't find work, where I can be sponsored). So, going to Canada is a much different beginning for me as I am entitled to look for work and no restrictions to the hours of work I can do. I can also finally build a credit score, which is so difficult to do in UK under a student visa.

From the threads I have read, you are also under CIC application now, right? Waiting for your medicals?

Oh, wow. Congrats, almost there. How do you get preliminary check-up? Are there any clinics that conducts that?

I did a medical examination last year, I was about to go to Saudi, but I turned down the job offer because they were giving me a crappy visa. I was able to pass the examination. So, I know that there are medical areas that I can pass. But of course, a year has passed, so things might have changed. Maybe, your idea of a preliminary check-up seems quite a really good one.

Thanks for the info. Please share your medical examination experience, so that I can talk to my cousin (who is a doctor) if I can get the same tests as preliminary.

Hi ohanne,

My first attempt was in 2010 (I was still living in UK), it was by post then, and it took them 9 months because on that first attempt my uncle submitted incomplete requirements from him. So, there was a delay. I got the first result in 2011 (I think around May) waited for 6 months to re-apply. I re-applied in November 2011 (I returned to PH) online and got the second result of refusal in three months, February 2012. Online application results are faster.

I was so frustrated, so I didn't re-apply immediately after 6 months. I was in contact with Immigration Centre, Manitoba who advised me to stop applying for Family Stream and try General Stream. I collected more work experience as General Stream allows within 10 years of experience. And my part time jobs were also counted as 2 points for every equivalent to 6 months (meaning a 1 year part-time, 20 hours/week employment). I applied in January 2013, and I got my LOA in July 2013. My patience and persistence, finally paid off.

There were some errors in my part, but I got lucky this 3rd attempt because when I was sending my application to my uncle via courier around November 2012, there were so many errors in my documents. I missed a document here and I messed up filling up a form (he brought it to IC Manitoba for checking before he sumbitted it). That Christmas season came and went, I was still correcting my errors. I double-checked online and saw that they were accepting online applications for GS stream, so I applied through that.

If your kids have got full time work experience, and it is stated clearly in the work reference letter, they should be okay.

You are so persistent. Your story is so inspiring for me to be more patient. :)

God bless!

Thank you simplyblessed. Yes, I almost gave up. But I decided to try again. If I have I have given up, I wouldn't be having my LOA. So, I was glad that I never took that route.

Yeah right! Giving up is never an option. We were on the same boat...having worked and studied in the UK. :)

What did you study in UK? Where did you study?

I went to London and I studied a BA and MPA. Stayed in UK for 6 years.

I also went to London, but it was more of my love to travel than to study. I have a British family there. My own family came over also and we all went back home together.

I also love travelling, that's why I don't like staying here in PH. Difficult to get visas and travelling is expensive.

Thanks tabs179. Actually doon sa thread ng Singapore, marami kaming naghihintay doon. Mas possible pang tumaas ang number of months kaysa bumaba dahil sa strike nila since April. Noong nagpasa ako 18 months pa lang. Tapos naging 20, 23 then 25. Yung mga ka-thread ko doon, Medical na lalagpas pa ng 6 months para sa PPR. Very frustrating, laki kasing abala sa mga plans. How I wish kasing efficient at effective sila ng Manila Visa Office.

boggz,

Pero ang strike natapos na diba? So sana nga bumilis na ang response.

I understand, mahirap kasi ang nag iintay, plus, syempre the earlier you leave the earlier you can start a new life. Dahil pag-dating sa Canada, no guarantees.

Hi tabs179,

im currently an engineer here in ph..call center was the first job of my sister last 2011..she got a job after a month of being in winnipeg..

with regards to her wedding, i dont know yet..but im helping her here the best way i can..God's will..

thank you so much.

Engineer ka pala, eh di regulated yan. Mag-aaral ka pa sa Canada.

So, out of curiousity, ano na ang work ng sister mo after nag-call centre sya? Is it in her field? Wala kasing nagsusulat about the job experiences in Manitoba sa mga forums. Madami Vancouver, Toronto and Ottawa.

Even landing experience, wala. Sana yung ibang mga MPNP na pinoy threads magsimula mag-kwento ng landing and job hunting experiences nila.
