Hi boggz,

Thanks for your response. Naku, grabe pala sa tagal pala kung galing Singapore. It's good information.

Nabasa ko nga sa UK umaabot ng 1 year samantalang sa Pinas 6 months, so medyo sinuwerte na rin. But then, kung nasa UK ako, hindi ko na mapapansin ang oras. While here in Pinas, naiinip na ako.

Mas possible pang tumaas ang number of months kaysa bumaba dahil sa strike nila since April. Noong nagpasa ako 18 months pa lang. Tapos naging 20, 23 then 25. Yung mga ka-thread ko doon, Medical na lalagpas pa ng 6 months para sa PPR. Very frustrating, laki kasing abala sa mga plans. How I wish kasing efficient at effective sila ng Manila Visa Office.

Hi istel0887,

What a small world naman. Yes, baka nga magkita tayo sa bus. Hahaha

Keep in touch, before one of us leaves, we can exchange private contact numbers. Just PM me. It's always good to know that someone is on the same boat as I am and if I know you found a job easily, I feel relieved that it isn't that difficult.

May I know what field you are in? And what field you want to work in?

I am in HR Management/ Administration. So, perhaps office worker if I am even lucky should be my goal. My uncle suggests call centre (akala ko hindi ko na babalikan ang work na yan but it appears I will have to.)

By the way, are you still planning to get a visit visa to attend your sister's wedding? Canadian Embassy's were on strike for months, so many people were not able to even get their visit visas on time. Particularly, embassies in PH, India and Mexico.

Hi tabs179,

im currently an engineer here in ph..call center was the first job of my sister last 2011..she got a job after a month of being in winnipeg..

with regards to her wedding, i dont know yet..but im helping her here the best way i can..God's will..

thank you so much.

I'm from samar, mura lng ang flights to cebu.. double purpose! medical and pasyal in one.. lol
how much is it in manila? mas mahal don?

ok lng without medical records, they just said if ever may copy dalhin na lng on the scheduled date..
how's your UK experience? Is it nice to live there? curious lng.. hehe.
Hi narsse,

Yes, mga 1,500 pesos ang flight from Manila and return. It costs about 5,200 (St. Luke's). I don't know sa IOM (I read in a blog its 5,000). And I read in threads na St. Luke's is faster dahil they are only recently allowed to conduct medicals for Canada and more people do their meds in IOM, so mas mabagal ang process. I don't know yet, will probably ask around sa mga posters.

I enjoyed living in UK, medyo mahirap nga lang kasi I want to do more things but I can't afford it. I was a student there, so most of my income (I worked part time) goes to my tuition and housing expenses. Minsan may extra, then I go to mainland Europe. I really wanted to stay, but it wasn't easy to get a full time job, which was a requirement to extend my visa. I was doing okay while I was a student, after a series of survival job (there it's called Mickey Mouse jobs, because they are for students), after a year and a half I obtained a Coordinator position. Which was paying me double that the minimum wage.

Nakakainis lang minsan, because I am under Student Visa status, so there are limitations to my rights and I feel a lot of unfairness paminsan-minsan. No access to grants, no access to student loans, no access to credits. Then ang hirap maghanap ng full time job because they keep on asking in application forms: do you have the right to work in UK? So, even if you are a possible candidate, they won't even interview as they don't want to sponsor a working permit. And of course being a Filipino, whenever I want to go to mainland Europe, I have to get a visa, which is nakakatamad na minsan. Additionally, sa mura ng mga flight (once, I paid only 37 pounds for a return flight to Germany) mas mahal pa yung Schengen Visa ko (55 Euros for three months validity).

That's why going to Canada will be different. I will be a PR, which allows me rights to apply for full time jobs, wala na yung restriction. Kahit na minority lang (which is not in the case of Manitoba, maraming Pinoy hehe), it's so nice to answer 'yes' to the question: Do you have the right to work in Canada? I can start building credit scores (which they don't have for me in UK). So, more freedom. Besides, I loved the multicultural environment in UK, I have friends from different countries, which is also quite common in Canada.

Hi Icecreamed,

When did you send your documents? Actually, it's still early days. From other threads its between 2-3 months. Although, because the strike is over, it appears in other threads I have read, they are receiving their MR within a month after AOR.

Narsse's case is different. As she said, the AOR must have arrived earlier.

I myself do not have any AOR yet, so cheer up, good things comes to those who wait. (I am also trying my best here LoL)

Hi simplyblessed,

This might be my ignorance, but what do you mean by timesheet? Do you mean our own timelines?

Hi simplyblessed,

Actually nothing that formal, just finding out what is going on with others and sharing experiences. I am not sure exactly what spreadsheet you are asking about. If you want you can start it, it would be pleasure for us. :D :D :D

Just let us know what you need.

It is really good to hear about others' experiences. We have an ongoing spreadsheet for 2013 CIO applicants earliest submission was July. You may want to check with the other thread and have your timelines included. Although that is not exclusive for Filipinos, you may be interested how others are doing.

Oh, yes I do hope it grows, so that we can be more patient about it. Reading threads of other applicant's struggles just keep me going.

I applied to MPNP three times. First two attempts (2010 and 2012) was because I was so persistent in applying via Family Stream and they keep on dis agreeing to my work experience (they only count from the past 5 years) and I had an advise from an Immigration Adviser to try General Stream instead (which counts from the past 10 years). I worked part time and Family Stream keep on not accepting it to even an equivalent to 2 years.

I applied again in January 2013 and I was really losing my interest by May/ June and was thinking of trying Australia and suddenly I got an email in July 2013 from my uncle stating that my LOA has arrived. (I didn't even paid any attention to my uncle's emails much, and didn't realize that him being interviewed means a good sign LoL).

Let's try to get this post going by putting up posts as much as we to attract more people in our situation.

In the meantime... just a little bit more patience eh? Keep on going with our lives until we get some more good news.
How many months before you got the letter of refusal? My children applied individually last may 2013. My eldest is 24 married with 2 kids. My son is 23 alsomarried with new born child. In terms of work experience they only have maxium of 3 yrs. upon reading ur message got worried hehehehe...

Hi ohanne,

My first attempt was in 2010 (I was still living in UK), it was by post then, and it took them 9 months because on that first attempt my uncle submitted incomplete requirements from him. So, there was a delay. I got the first result in 2011 (I think around May) waited for 6 months to re-apply. I re-applied in November 2011 (I returned to PH) online and got the second result of refusal in three months, February 2012. Online application results are faster.

I was so frustrated, so I didn't re-apply immediately after 6 months. I was in contact with Immigration Centre, Manitoba who advised me to stop applying for Family Stream and try General Stream. I collected more work experience as General Stream allows within 10 years of experience. And my part time jobs were also counted as 2 points for every equivalent to 6 months (meaning a 1 year part-time, 20 hours/week employment). I applied in January 2013, and I got my LOA in July 2013. My patience and persistence, finally paid off.

There were some errors in my part, but I got lucky this 3rd attempt because when I was sending my application to my uncle via courier around November 2012, there were so many errors in my documents. I missed a document here and I messed up filling up a form (he brought it to IC Manitoba for checking before he sumbitted it). That Christmas season came and went, I was still correcting my errors. I double-checked online and saw that they were accepting online applications for GS stream, so I applied through that.

If your kids have got full time work experience, and it is stated clearly in the work reference letter, they should be okay.

Thanks a lot! Really hope and pray this time you'll make it to the finish line...and one day will meet in manitoba! Am also still processing my applcation and so with all of my children.
