hi! i hope someone can advise me if my decision is right..

i'm working here in AB for 2years now and i already applied for PR under PNP. I submit my application in cic phillipines and receive my acceptance last feb 25 2008. we had our medical last may 2008 but my wife was pregnant then so she had her medical last july 2008. unfortunately, the result of our medical was sent to ottawa instead of the philippines. so we requested it to be sent to the philippines just last october 10, 2008. and until now we're waiting to receive our pr. i am wondering if i will take paternal leave from my work if it will affect our application for permanent resident? and how long until we can receive our pr status. thanks!

Call the AB PNP and ask. I have heard that as long as your PR application has not gone through that you can not quit your employment or they will cancel your nomination and therefore your PR. If your employer agrees to give you time off for parental leave, you have not quit your employment which should be ok but call AB PNP to make sure.
