I received some upsetting news today and needed to make sure it's true.
I'm a US citizen in my first year of employment in Quebec. My wife is due to give birth in October. My company's human resources tells me I am only allowed to take 3 paid days off and 2 unpaid days off in the first 15 days my son is born, and that's it. Is this truly the law? It seems unbelievably harsh and strict. I'm trying to find info on what the laws and rules are here in Quebec, and whether the Quebec Parental Insurance Plan applies to me or not, given my status?
