Dear All,

I have a question. My husband applied for family sponsorship application and he has passed the sponsorship approval. All the documents are mailed to Canadian Embassy in Moscow. We have also applied for TRV visa, and I did not include my passport with the application because I had to travel to another country before my trip to Canada. Recently I have received a passport request email. It says the following:

This is to inform you that we are prepared to finalize your application for a Temporary Resident Visa. Please be advised that the final decision on your application will be reached only upon the receipt of the following additional document(s):

Your valid original international travel passport,

I have already mailed my passport and waiting them to mail my passport back. I am so worried because some of lawyers informed me that passport request does not always means that they are ready to give me visa. It is a 50% chance of me getting TRV visa. In the case when they decide to deny my the TRV visa they have to request my passport so that they put their refusal stamp on my passport. Is this true??? I understand if they decide to refuse me in the case when I already have mailed them my passport along the application they can issue a refusal stamp on my passport with the refusal letter. However, I want to understand if they are asking to mail my passport that means I have 50% chance to get the TRV or not?

Let me know please....

No one will really know... They could be issuing the TRV, they could be stamping your passport with a refusal for the TRV, or maybe you'll get really lucky and they'll just be issuing you your PR instead!
My husband was granted 1 TRV, and he was denied 1 TRV... his first TRV was successful and the second wasn't. After his refusal on the second one, they didn't stamp anything into his passport.... after his granting of the first trv, there was a vo stamp at the back with a number, and in the middle of the passport was the visa..... so I don't think there is anything consistent that goes on. You'll just have to wait and see... If you had compelling proof of return in your TRV application, it's possible that they are granting the trv, but they are very unlikely...Hopefully you're successful though.

Dear tink23,

Thanks for your reply I really appreciate giving me some advise. I just do not understand one thing. First my case is little different in the sense that I did not include my passport with my application to begin with. I understand if my passport is present during their decision process they can stamp the refusal and send me the refusal letter as well. Why will they ask me to mail my passport to them for the refusal stamp if they just can send me the refusal letter???? I know that they do not care for the postal cost but it is also time for them to stamp my refusal??? On top of that they have the information of my refusal in the system if that is the case?\

Another thing I have done is that when they requested my passport I did reply to them thanking for granting me the visa in advance, as I was reasoning that is the normal cause, to visit my husband. ANd I send another email to the embassy recently asking when they mailed my passport back, without asking their decision sice I thought that passport request means granting visa. So they could have replied to me saying that your passport is already on route and we have not granted TRV visa...Correct???? Instead they just informed me that my passport is on route!!!!

Can you explain what do you mean by "there was no stamp at the back with number"? it is just a visa that is right no number at the back? also why did they refuse TRV for your husband? did they issue PR instead after short period of time?

I do not think they will issue me PR that is way too optimisitic....I will let you know if that happens...also they could have mentioned in their last email that I am granted PR along the information when they mailed my passport?? correct???

Dear Sibnadian, I need to know so that if it is refused I can at least either change the flights and bookings I have made, to the proper date. And you have applied to Moscow office??

yes, i understand why you are asking. The point is, nobody will know for sure. The same office can do different things to different people.
Yes, I am from Russia, thus, Moscow office for all immigration and visitors' subjects/visas.
I have been dealing with Moscow's office for 12 years now, and I never know for sure what to expect:)
Wish you good luck!

I just started my own immigration 12 years ago, and since then have dealt with visitors visas for relatives many times and with parents' sponsorship.
