Howdy all,

Wondering what y'all do to pass the time while waiting for PR or just ANYTHING from CIC?

Myself, I've gotten into knitting and making hair accessories for little girls. Plus my husband got me addicted to video games. (PS3, Xbox360 and PC haha)

Hubby, mostly video games, but also swimming and hanging out with my parents. They like to hang out and have a beer once in a while. Hubby joins, which is actually sometimes amusing as he's used to American beer and has been drinking Canadian beer and whiskey haha.

So what do you do to pass the time? Thought it'd be interesting to hear the different things we do to pass the time!

Are you on Ravelry? I spend more time reading the boards there than I do actually knitting. It's gotten worse lately, though, because I have a new cat who can't be trusted near yarn and I live in a studio apartment. Once I can shut him out of the room, it will get easier.

I am going to college full time, so most of my time is spent in class or studying.

I've never heard of Ravelry. Yes I spend a lot of time on here and facebook as well haha!

I got into running and walking as exercise and just generally spending a lot of time working on my health and improving my eating habits and stress-coping skills. You'd have to know me to understand why this was a lot of work, but it took a lot of my time. I also tried to catch up on my fiction, I love to read, but for the longest while the only books I read were professional texts. So I indulged myself at used bookstores, reading as much as I wanted in my spare time, of which we all know waiting out immigration can suddenly produce A LOT, even when we are employed full-time!

in our case life is just continuing as it used to even before sending the application; work and more work for both, since i'm (i'm the sponsor) outside canada i'm trying to improve more and more my pro skills, do job applications etc so our transition will b a smooth one once we move

i'm trying also to take advantage of things which r very unique here and we won't have anymore and spend time with ppl here i know i'll miss

yeees while waiting for the sponsor approval - i started to read again (not pro books) and exercise (although it wasn't continuous :( but today i started again); and self imposing to b less stressed and have patience and don't think at bad things does take a lot of effort ::)

we like to help each other while the other one is the master chef, make barbeque, play cards, board games, puzzle, watch movies and i got addicted to some games (angry birds lol but i passed that stage)

and yeah my spouse thought all this process is making me miserable and i was getting depressed so my bday gift this year was a cat!!!!! a cute little fur ball does make ur days joyfull and with new responsabilities and makes u forget abt all the bad things :) of course he is also waiting to go to Canada ;D

Ravelry is an amazing resource for knitters (and other yarny people, for that matter). "Facebook for knitters" isn't even half of it.

Regular exercise, golf, and lots and lots of reading.

Charlie: check out the author Nelson DeMille. Great writer!

Trying to work as much as possible to pay off a small amount of debt and get a ticket to visit him in the fall ;D ;D ;D
Surfing the internet for inspiring places to visit and things to do in the Philippines. There's so much to see!
Trying to think of positive things. Visiting my Grandma. Rebuilding my piano. ::)

Oh, and Baking!!! Mostly Rhubarb pies and bread. ;D

We are both in Sydney, so just trying to make the most of it, working and saving until (hopefully) next April.

My mom and dad used to have a small garden in the back yard. Every year my mom would bake fresh strawberry and rhubarb pies! Awesome with a scoop of really yellow french vanilla ice cream!!

Actually, my mom used to bake a lot when we were growing up...always very fresh ingredients...my friends would LOVE coming over for dinner...

I have a list of things I want her to make for me when I get back home!! She'll be busy for weeks...haha!!

To pass the time I read alot....work alot of overtime for extra time off......read this forum and a fb group I joined....surf the internet to plan our first vacation for when my husband gets here......somewhere else than Cuba.......I keep meaning to exercise and the treadmill is out....just haven't got the feet onto it yet!!! Most days are pretty filled....sometimes the evenings or weekends are long if the weather sucks but overall I am a positive person and a people person so I just try to keep as busy as I can!!!

Passing the time! Well work keeps me busy, then studying and working on my skills to bring to Canada. Being outside, I spend the majority of time looking for places, schools, neighborhoods, etc so that my familys transition can be as smooth as possible. Saving money and trying to exercise...

Ohhhh plenty time here reading posts too! This site is like a drug! Very addicting!

I work extra too, and am taking some online courses as I know life will be much busier once he is here. And read this forum, especially on boring days at work like today! :)
Does anyone have spouses who haven't been to Canada? Or haven't been here much. What do you want to show them in Canada? I'm in Alberta, so Calgary and Banff will be our first stop. He wants to see Toronto and Niagra Falls.

KJG- What FB group?

Hi Everyone, Great thread BTW! :) For me & my hubby, we talk everyday by phone mornings (on his way to work) after noon (when he gets off work).. Then after supper we bring up our video chat, and we talk about our day, our plans and we also play an online game together, we play that for hours, (it's how we met) 2yrs we have known each other and On July 10/12 it will be our First Anniversary.. :) WE also email, text and visit each other when we can, he comes here more often, as I have teens I need to make sure are ok while I'm gone as well as so my house is still standing when I get back.. lol.. we miss each other very much, but we stay connected as much as possible and it seems to work for us... some one had posted how you plan to be with them for a short visit, you just get used to them being with you and they have to leave again. I also start to cry and get down at least 24hours before we part. lol. what do you do? I love my hubby and so look forward to starting our lives together here in Canada. Hopefully that will be soon, finger crossed. Oh another thing I do is come on this forum several times a day and read the threads, it helps.. All we can do is hang in there and be here for each other in whatever way that maybe.. Hugs my forum friends.
