Hi I've my parents sponsorship file application in Dec 2010 (Canada) and received by Delhi, India . My details are as under:

Year : $ : Family member + my parents
1. Family Income 2010 : 53,995 : 3 + 2 = 5.
2. Family Income 2011 : 62,946 : 4 + 2 = 6.
3. Family Income 2012 : 57,927 : 4 + 2 = 6.
4. Family Income 2013 : 62,408 : 5 + 2 = 7.

We are Canadian citizen and my question is
1. What happens if I've to move to US on business visa with my family or me alone. Does my parents file stays on or continues in process and is my US income valid for my parents sponsorship application.

2. Also I've checked online for Federal Income for 2013 is not available so what amount is to be considered for year 2013 and 2014.

Please let me know ASAP if you have information. I'll be heartily thankful.

Photo Specs

HI All

I received an email today for my mother in law to go and get a medical within the next 60 days. I take this as good news, something is happening!

Two questions:
1. The instructions say to bring 4 recent photos to the medical. What are the specs for these photos? Same as for a PR card?

2. Any idea what the time frame would be from now until issuing a PR visa? I understand that her parent/grandparent class application is being processed in Ottawa, and she will be coming from Ukraine.

Thanks for your help

Congratz amy1 ! Happy for you . Goodluck

A very nice day to everyone!

There are two important reasons why CIC suspended for two years the acceptance of petitions for parents and grandparents. The first is that because the backlog has turned so long that if the trend will continue the program is no longer sustainable. Before the pause, the waiting was 7-8 years. Another reason is CIC would like to make sure that parents and grandparents that will be allowed entry will not become burden to the government. Under the new requirements, sponsors must have 30% more income and must commit to undertake for 20 years.

Two years and seven months after the suspension, the waiting time has not changed but even turned longer like 8-10 years for petitioners from many countries. Step 1 has been pegged for 4 years(48 months) and Step 2 for 5 years( 60-72 months). It seems to me that the pause has no effect in the waiting time. The pause only enabled the CIC to come out with stricter and stiffer requirements that further discourage and limit the chance of immigrants to have their parents live with them. The Supervisa is of no help either in reuniting families. While CIC claims the approval rate for this visa is high, the number of visas granted so far is very small compared to those eligible to apply because of extremely prohibitive financial conditions applicants have to hurdle. CIC is quite clear on preventing parents from coming to Canada and it will be wise for immigrants to know this plan of the Canadian government in order that they will not feel frustrated.

Just an observation and thought. I encourage comments. Thanks
