hello everyone
I have submitted all documnets on 8th may to CPC-Mississauga for my mother's sponsorship. Any one has any idea how long will it take to get approved? and the next step? thanks.

here's my time line
Originally Applied : Sept 2009
Documents submitted : Aug2012 , which have been lost in their mail, they again sent me the letter on 23 April 2013.
Documnets sent again : 07 May 2013.

any idea long it might take? and also I have included the proof of registered mail sent Aug20.1012 and a letter requesting faster processing.

Thank you all, please share if anyone has any idea or view. Thanks again. :)

Mine took about 8 months to get the first step approved after submitting all documents. Its been 6 months since file transfered to overseas visa office, no communication yet.

We have dependents on file, they were below 22 when sponsorship was sent to Miss. Now one of them is over 22.
They're still enrolled in universities and not expected to finish for 2-3 yrs at least and plan to do masters also (in Europe).
So they're students still, hopefully they will be able to get PR and contribute in Canada along with rest of the family.

We were asked for some detailed "personal history" of parents 2 months after file transfer. We sent the info by email right away.
Originally we had sent only last 10 years, but they wanted history since parents turned 18 yrs. Sent info right away by email.

Nothing after that. Not sure what's going on, we have ordered the GCMS notes.
Hopefully we can get medicals soon. But it sure is a long wait for us.

I thought they have to meet the dependent definition only at the time of application (the initial one), and that is the lock-in date, they don't have to remain student afterward, all they have to keep is their marital status as single (if married or in mutual they disqualify)

based on experiences of other members, that is not true.

That is interesting, it contradicts with their manual

"For assessment purposes,
visa offices receiving a transferred file must respect the original date
on which the application was received as the “lock-in”"

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op01-eng.pdf

If the dependents were under 22 when the application was made, their age is locked in and they have to remain single but don't have to remain students.

If the dependents were age 22 or older when the application was made, they can be included as dependent children if they are full time students and financially dependent on their parents in that case, they must remain single and full time students until they get PR or otherwise they will be excluded from the application.

they have to meet the dependent definition at the time of visa issuance as well. if not they will reject

they have rejected dependents if they switch education streams without adequate explanation.
