Are you saying that there are cases where the dependent was below 22 at the time of application, but was refused solely because that dependent did not maintain his or her student status? I don't remember seeing a case like that. Could you please refer me to one?

Sadly, as of next year they will accept only 5,000/year ..................... the $25,000 quota was only for 2012 and 2013. I sincerely feel for those whose files sit with very busy embassies. The new requirements, however, will reduce the number of applicants.

Jason Kenney has in an interview stated PGP visas will be issued to 25000 in 2014 as well. see extract of interview comments:

Kenney said Canada would continue to admit a total of 25,000 parents and grandparents as permanent residents in 2014. The 10-year, multiple-entry super visa – introduced along with the moratorium so that loved ones could still visit their Canadian relatives for two-year-long stretches – will also continue as an alternative to immigration, he said.

At its peak, about 165,000 parents and grandparents were having to wait as long as eight years to come to Canada. Kenney said the backlog now stands at about 125,000 and by 2015, it’ll be just over 43,000 with wait times of about a year-and-a-half.

hi, your and my time line is same, do u have any dependents ( in my case only mom and still took way long)
i also applied in dec 2007, file trans. to ND May 2012, rec'd med Oct 2012....so in your case you should expect Medical soon ( i got medical after 5 months of file trans)
in the men time you can contact your MP ( which i did) to get status of your file
email ND ( which i did) asking if they need anything from your end
wish you good luck

Medical was done in Pakistan. Principal applicant was asked to do the stress test as he went through heart bypass surgery 2 years ago. The spouse was also told that bp is high and sugar level is also high. She was not aware of this earlier. She was asked to provide ECG... Was done on same day. Principal applicant , spouse and a dependant child was asked through phone call to come again for some additional tests.... Can anyone reply....if this will be normal or leading this immigration case into danger zone (rejection). Does any one know what type of medical conditions lead to rejection of immigration applications.
Appreciate any replies

It is totally normal.Don't worry.Though your family had to go through many test but nothing to worry.there are so many cases even from Pakistan with bypass surgery. All got cleared because surgery is already done so no burden on health care.
They always call later for additional tests once the result of initial one comes.

Its normal to see "App Received" and "Meds Received" and NOT In-Process, as its only when they ask for more docs

So in a way, no news is good news ( sort of )

As far under 22 goes, technically who has been asked for more docs? so far ( as far as I know ), its only for over 22 and studying

Oh well my firend's family went to canada and one of te dependent was 25-26.
His study was regular and everything went smoothly no problems in their case whatsoever and they received
their visa 2 months after medical.
I think i can expect that too as soon as medical arrives.
Until then i've to wait
