I am still waiting medical letter as the first one was received back by CHC Islamabad undelivered some how.... Not sure why as principal applicant is living at the same address for last 16 years. Disappointed and dejected. Have doctor asked you to do some culture test as usually the culture test take some time...

Mr.Jason Kenney said in the speech that' We will reopen that program for a limited number of new applications, based on the new criteria, in January of 2014. I stress a limited number of new applications to avoid an explosion of the backlog again.
see the full speech in this link;

Seeing that speech

Let's now look at the parents and grandparents program. First of all, I came before you in August of 2011, after the last election, where we had promised to speed up processing for permanent residency sponsorship of parents and grandparents of Canadians.

When I did so, we were looking at a backlog of 167,000 parents and grandparents, with an eight-year wait time, which is totally, completely unacceptable. Had we not taken any measures, we would be on track to a backlog of a quarter of a million parents and grandparents waiting for 15 years for us even to look at their application, totally unacceptable. Instead, I came before you again in the summer of 2011 and announced the Action Plan for Faster Family Reunification, which involved four elements.

Firstly, the two-year temporary pause in new applications; secondly, a 60 % increase in the number of parents admitted to Canada each year, going up to 25,000 admissions in 2012 and 2013; thirdly, the introduction of the new Super Visa, the 10-year multiple-entry visa for parents and grandparents; and fourthly, consultations with Canadians on how to restructure the parents permanent residency sponsorship program so that in the future it was fast and sustainable.

I can now report to you that as a result of the initial work we have done on the Action Plan for Faster Family Reunification, we have seen a dramatic reduction in that backlog, going from 167,000 to 125,000 today, going from an eight-year wait time to a five-year wait time. We will reopen that program for a limited number of new applications, based on the new criteria, in January of 2014. I stress a limited number of new applications to avoid an explosion of the backlog again.

===================

So will it be process as usual for 2010-11/2012 and then will open for newer apps ( I assume that's what he means ) OR open limited for existing apps such as 7/2009 onwards >>> so there is still a backlog of 125K, and allowing 25K in 2013, so go by the same # or even extra 5 next year - thats 30K - still a long way to go.
As per website, it says(working on applications received on September 11, 2007–November 17, 2009* ) and we have to see if they are able to finish them as you can see us from 2007, 2008 still in line

Any good news guys.... Still waiting

hi suin.what is ur e-case status.am applicant of sept2010 and my status is application received under sponsorship or permanent application both.and in process under citizenship status.and other 2010 applicant plz share ur status........

Jason Kenney is very diplomatic. It's not just about parents but all the other processing timing are also increasing. To get your citizenship it take 23 months now and he keep saying we are working on the backlog but that's never gonna happen. The main reason to stop parents sponsorship was thr backlog but we still have the same backlog.

plzzz help me out

Mom and my brother went for medical in islamabad.they took xray for my mom dr said there was an infection in xray.and he asked for 3 additional different test after that they will know why is xray not clear.My question is he give her appointment july 18 for xray again thats gona be 3 month .but the letter says medical should be done 45 days. can any body tell me dr is doing right thing ?or he suppose to send medical right away then they ask for additional test?why he is giving appointment so long?

That's correct. Medicals should be done in 45 days. What you (and the doctor) should do is, ask the doctor to fill out the Section A portion of the Medical and give you a copy of it. It is this copy that you need to mail back to your VO (at least that is the case in India). The doctor would send the original to the concerned DMO. Whatever tests the doctors undertakes later will be sent by the doctor to the DMO. All you have to do is
- send a copy of the medical form within 45 days
- do all the tests the doctor suggested

I agree but not just 23 months. some people who applied in 2009 are still waiting to get citizenship. My citizenship processing took 32 months ( my case was not special this is how it is most of the time now)

i think it all depends on the place handling your case. i got mine within 18 months and that was because i rescheduled my first interview, had i accepted it it would have been between 12-14 months.
