I applied for citizenship after 2 years of PR as I was a student for 2 years before that so I got half time 2+2/1 = 3. I was told they check passport for stamps and confirm dates, I had like bundle of 5 passports with stamps on stamps, and I was like they will really check this? but I was concerned about this major blunder made my Montreal CBSA officer.

As a student I went to the US on Vacation in Aug 2000 ( stamped on PP ) for 1 week, when I re-entered Canada, the officer stamped it as Sept, 2001 - I realized this much later as you can't imagine an immigration officer making such a mistake. This haunted me before citizenship and I was on these forums ( infact users like PMM were there ) and they said there is no way to verify stamps as errors can be made.
I was like this error makes me look I was out of Canada for 1 year and I have to gather evidence to show I was here

So on the day of citizenship, no one asked me anything, I went upto citizenship lady who was so casual, she was like "oh thats ok but I appreciate your honesty. It was so funny, desi aunties were cheating in the test

Moved to BC 2 weeks after that, got license swapped in 3 days and passport took like 6 days. It so quick here, got license renewed a lazy tuesday afternoon under 2 minutes - didn't know citizenship took that long ( kandel )

Seeing that speech.........
As per website, it says(working on applications received on September 11, 2007–November 17, 2009* ) and we have to see if they are able to finish them as you can see us from 2007, 2008 still in line

it's hard to believe that they are planning to reopen the sponsorship for new applications and still have the backlog not cleared. that is definitely not fair to all the people who've been waiting all these long years.

maybe it will be faster just to withdraw the application and reapply again?

I know that this question does not particularly belong to this topic, but maybe there's somebody who has dealt with this matter - is it possible to apply for parents visitor visa while the parent is still on extension of stay in Canada?
Thank you in advance for any input.

its all speculations, just because they said they would reopen it does not mean they will. they can always extend the hold.

Even if they accept, it won't bundle into yours - you will be before new apps anyways

Not necessarily. If the rules are stricter and fewer people qualify, the new applicants could have their files processed faster. The option to withdraw and re-apply may be there for those who meet the stricter conditions, while those who want to be assessed under the old rules could continue their application.

we've already extended it twice, and this time extension expires in fall. no way they'll process the sponsorship by that time.

You can ask for 2 year ext - but might be on the tougher side
