see, I told you few days back. Good Luck.

Hi everyone,

I have few questions from those who landed recently specially if you have landed in Toronto

My parents got their visa and are going to land in March.

I would like to ask a few questions about questions the immigration officer asked you when you landed.

Did they ask any question about your sponsor at all? I am my parents sponsor and I was wondering if I need to give them detail information about where I work (address, etc) or not they will be only asked question about themselves?

Do they need to bring any fund with them? My understanding is that they don't need to have any proof of fund because they are coming under family class.

They have a property (outside Canada obviously) and they might sell it later to bring the money to Canada. In order for that money to be exempt from taxation, do they need to fill any form now or report their property during landing process?

Thanks,

Mahboubeh

No to all questions.

I suggest land last week of month. Example, I would recommend landing on Feb 27, 28 instead of 1st week of March. As 3 months medical wait include the whole month of landing. so landing on Feb 28 will give you 2 months + 1 day of wait (at least in BC).

Congratulation !!!

I have a Q to u, from where did u apply? m asking u coz, I applied for my parents in End of 2008, and I live Montreal, QC. I didnt get any update from CIC since Oct 2012 when they ask me send to send CSQ (I send original copy to CPP-O). m really frustrated now with the timing ... need ur opinion.

thanx

This makes me wonder, what is happening here??? Most of the members process start date is after Medical and Passport request, where in my case process started on January 15 2013 and I received Medical and PP request letter dated January 23 2013. Does this make sense??? ???

you are very near. Once you clear medicals, decision will be made. You can expect something by Feb 23rd. Don't delay, get Medicals ASAP.

Mom got

---> Medical done on Feb 5 2013

---> Sent requested documents such as Confirmation of completion of Medical, Passport, and Travel History form on Feb 6 2013

---> Received by CIC New Delhi on Feb 08 2013

How long does it take for DMP to send medical to CIC New Delhi??? I heard they have online system now so they can submit medical results to CIC same day... I m not sure about new Medical procedure....

Oh, I didn't know that. Well it is too late now, they already bought their ticket for mid march. But it is goo to know that they will be eligible for ohip even earlier than we thought.

I check this for Ontario now and it is not the same. Basically it does not make any difference when in the month they land :(

More info here:

http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/publications/ohip/ohip_waiting_pd.aspx

a) If you move to Ontario from another country:
The waiting period begins on the date you establish or re-establish residence in Ontario. Your coverage begins when the waiting period ends - after three calendar months.
Example: Landed on Jan 15==> Coverage starts April 15

b) If you move to Ontario from another province or territory where you had provincial/territorial health insurance coverage:
OHIP coverage will begin on the first day of the third month after establishing residence in Ontario, provided you were insured in your previous province or territory.
Example: Entered Ontario: Jan 15 ==> Coverage starts April 1st.

True. In our case... landed on Jan 22... and coverage will start on April 22 in Ontario health card... Even if the card arrives early in mail, but coverage will start from April 22.

Hi,

I stumbled upon this forum and found it to be an amazing place for immigration queries. So here is my first post.

My parents have got their PR visa in December. They are planning to come to Canada in June. Is there any limitation to where they can live within Canada?

I am asking this because my sister had applied for the sponsorship, she lives in Toronto. We live in Saskatchewan. Is it possible for my parents to complete their landing formalities in Toronto and then come to Saskatchewan to stay with us? Will there be any issues in getting the provincial health coverage? Any other points we should be aware of?

Thank you in advance.

They can live anywhere in Canada. There might be some exceptions if they choose to live in Quebec.
