I still have no news on PPR. However we are trying to decide whether my dad should depart soon or not. He is currently with us here in Ottawa as a visitor.

Could anybody tell me how long you have for landing after receiving your visa??

Does anyone know how long you have to remain in Canada in order to maintain your PR status?

The date for landing after receipt of a PR visa is one year from the date of medical. To maintain PR status you must be resident in Canada for a total of 2 years in the first 5 years. There is more specific information on the CIC website.Also this is all explained in the letter which accompanies the COPR.

rajmalhotra, I emailed Ottawa about transferring to Seattle but then changed my mind as I thought it would postpone the whole process. So I emailed them again saying that my mom would go to the home country and also asked them to confirm that it is still ok to go to her home country (I was afraid that she will go but they will send the file to Seattle). They replied (even though they didn't reply fast to my email about Seattle) same day saying that she can go to the home country and that they will re-issue instructions shortly. I was puzzled by this statement about re-issuing instructions, we just ignored it. Good luck anyway!

Last step, yes, the visa is valid 1 year after the medical exam.

news to update i got the medical and pcc request by email today as well, they requested to fill the same doc again too, i also notice that most of the ppl here as well got the same email today lookes like ND has sent the email to most of the 2008 applicant.

good luck to everyone. hope you all here the good news soon too.

as well congratulations to every one who recived the request and got the visa as well. sorry ihave been in active for time as got busy with new born baby lookes like he bringed the lots of luck for us and things are moving ;D

It is so nice that lot of members got visas .Exact one year ago I couldn'y dream of this.This is not less then a miricale.Just pray for us guys .

Also I feel bad for people from Singapore Visa office. Can you guys not raise your voice together? may be report to some canadian newspaper etc. I don't understand the reason for delay in that visa office. For visa office in troubled(unrest) countries, CIC has an excuse but what is the excuse for Singapore office.
