Is there anybody here submitted additional docs on about Jan 20th and received approval letters and medical requests?

Applied in first week of January but nothing yet... Looks like waiting game has started again.

I believe that someone here who sent the papers on Jan 13th, received a confirmation that the documents were received and that they were in order. Nothing about the decision though. The last known approval is perhaps for a Jan 3rd application.

As of November 2011 backlog was 165000 (as mentioned in press release during November 2011). Assuming that CIC received about 38000 applications per year (as mentioned in November 2011 press release) there is backlog of 152000 application received between the years 2008 and 2011. So there is probably another 13000 unprocessed application from 2007.

Applicants who submitted sponsorship applications up to February 2009 have received requests for additional documents. It seems likely that CIC requested documents from approximately 50000 applicatants in November 2011 and afterwards. Those who submitted all the documents early and met the requirements received the approvals and files were transferred to Ottawa or local visa offices.

My thought is that if your sponsorship application is approved and it is within the first 25000 approved applications, a decision should be expected within 2012.

Agreed with you...
I think before putting any numbers in this one forum one should do some research. Cause sometimes stats do not make any sense. Overall I think this forum is most informative regarding parents sponsorship processing and we should make every effort to keep it accurate with facts and figures. These are only my thoughts if some feels other way, I appologise.

Seems like yes... waiting game started again at each stage.. Hopefully this time it shouldn't be too long.

Most likely, Yes. There is no information in the press release about how many out of 165000 are awaiting a final decision at local visa offices. However, total of 25000 visas are available for parents and grand parents during 2012. Clearing the backlog @ 25000 per year may take up to 6 years. These are projections as per the current policy. However, that can change due to several factors:

Super Visa - Many families may find obtaining a Super Visa just sufficient to join their loved ones
Incomplete applications/Withdrawls - May not be a significant numbers but still will reduce the backlog
Phase II - Changes in policy

What i am understanding now is, Canada Govt has taken decision to clear this all pending files ASAP

Govt decided to hold for new application for next 2 yrs and clear back log as earliest as per statement and CIC announcement in Nov - 2011

What i am understanding is that CIC itself do not have idea how to react with this all application? or how to handle it with this much of flow of applications?

Basically CIC do not have pre-plan that how to execute all application as earliest at all.

CIC doesn't communicate with local office or aboard office that what is next step now after received the application and how to handle the enquiry over the phone, mail or e-mail, and even CIC did not updated with local office that what next to do now? Local office sent regular format (What i am understanding right now) is regular waiting time to clear the file is 43 months...

@Shuga, I haven't received email from CPC-Ottawa yet. Not sure what was going on.. do you suggest me to follow-up and see what was going on?

RajaJi - you are absolutely right that if CIC keeps target of 25,000/year parents entry into Canada, it would tale at least 6 years to clear the back log.

That is true. How long it will take is a question all of us have. And every individual wants to know where does he/she falls in the queue. As per the letters sent out in November 2011, applications will be processed in the order they are received with all the required documents. Those who responded early and met the criteria started to receive approval decisions as early as January 2012. It seems , no one has received a final decision from Ottawa or Local Visa Office yet.
