Hi Andrei_T
I also enquired through my MP, initially at the end of August, to confirm decision made. The response to my MP from CIC at the ned of August was similar..."visa should be issued in a matter of weeks, if you haven't heard by end of the month ask again". So, I did. My MP's office is currently trying to get more information. I will post again as soon as I hear back. I'm not sure what is taking CPP-Ottawa so long. As far as I know, CPP-Ottawa have not yet actually issued COPR. They have requested passports only. As my parents are visa exempt, they do not require a visa counterfoil to be affixed to their passports, so in theory would just require a COPR.
Hi northclare,
Thank you for information. My parent requires a visa counterfoil to be affixed to passport which is strange because we are from E.U., so Ottawa will need to request passport sooner or letter.

Is this is the Trend? all CPP-O folks whose PR decisions have been made but no news afterwards are visa exempt and just need COPR.

I think the home country is visa exempt

Anyone else still waiting on stage 1 decision?

Yes I am still waiting, 3 months have passed since AOR from Mississauga, ecas still shows application received in both categories, ecas was once 2 lines for a while but a few weeks ago it changed to one line, don't know what that means, no communication since....on the same boat waiting... applied since early July 2008.

Thank you! Yeah I am also planning to send through VFS. There is another option given of sending to Canadian Consulate in New Delhi but I am sure VFS service will be much faster and convenient.
Good luck on your file too!

Did you parents have to do the 'mental status check' questions/ tasks? A friend of mine just took her mother to do medicals (she is over 70 but is totally fine physically and mentally). Anyway, because she is over 70, the doctor asked her do to certain things to check her mental status: e.g. asked to remember three words, repeat and then after a while asked again, then asked to draw some images, count backwards subtracting 3 etc (similar to what is suggested in designated medical practicioner book)
No, she did not have questions related to her mental status (although, I studied the designated medical practioner book and explained to her in advance these questions could be asked). Perhaps, because she is under 70 and these questions are for those older than 70?

Yes. With an authority letter from your parents. 2 authority letters needed - one for drop-off and one for pick-up...
Thanks!!

Yes, probably they do not do it if less than 70. We will see how it goes for us - my mom is under 70 and my dad is 71 :)
But my friend did say that when she made an appointment the receptionist asked up front if her mom is over 70 or under 70 as the cost was slightly different (maybe because that additional exam had to be included?)

Exact same situation as mine....I am also still on Stage 1. Though I originally submitt in Sept 2009. AOR was received in July and cold since then.....Waiting and hoping.
