Hi friends!
I am writing an observation. I noticed from among those asking questions and making comments here that there were those who had filed petitions for their parents as early as 2008 and that their applications have not been fully approved or visa had been issued for their parents up to now after long six years.
When CIC halted or suspended accepting petitions in 2012 for parents one of the principal reasons they said was because the waiting period had gone so long and that they want to improve the whole program so it will be sustainable. They made the projection that under the new program processing will be just 5 years and this will even become shorter in the years to follow. This is because more visas will be issued for those who submitted prior to the pause and that less applications will be accepted in the coming years just like the quota of 5000 they set in 2014.Now I checked on the latest processing times and found out that it went even longer. If you are from the Philippines, the waiting period there is 10 years. For other some regular countries, the waiting period is no different. Suffice it to say that after CIC has suspended the acceptance of petitions for 2 years; made the requirements very prohibitive in 2014, the processing and issuance of visas for parents and grandparents have not changed but even became much slower.
I am wondering whether the situation will still improve. Or everything is just all rhetoric and that parents and grandparents are at the bottom of priorities. I shall appreciate hearing other opinions on the matter. Thanks.
