Just an FYI, I contacted my MP last week to get update on application as medicals expired on Oct 27th. I got a reply a few days later with expected information :" application is in queue for review, 50 months processing time etc..."

However, they also mentioned that medicals validity has been extended to Oct 27th 2014 (24 months in total) No other information as to why this was done, but may be a new policy to deal with the fall out from the strike.

well..thats a news...they hav extended medical validity..u should order GCMS notes and check abt medicl validity..

I agree. And that's one of the reasons why CIC has all these backlogs. Because visa officers would spend their time on this forum tracking the users rather than processing the applications.

not only... they also have their phones to play with, bbm, check weather, mail, browse web... everything but piles of applications on their desks.

I must admit I am so upset with CIC. I called their agent yesterday and on Monday. They told me that they can't check the status of application. They can't confirm if the additional docs are rec'd as they can't see them until sponsorship is finalized. Its been 48 months since I applied, and file is still in Mississauga. They also mentioned that there is no way that someone who applied after you has had approval of sponsorship. Are these guys even know what they have to say

I completely understand you - that is what they keep saying to me... Also in addition to that they keep referring to the 10 weeks waiting period.

vow, thats lot of process. You seem to know a lot about this, please can you tell me what is RFV in gcms notes as I have that since 1 month and no answer from LVO
I heard in New Delhi 2013 forum, it means ready for visa or is it require further verification

RFV means "Ready For Visa". LVOs work on a quota basis and can release only n number of visas. RFV indicates that all processing is complete and when visa quota is available, they would issue the visa.

It is scary, the things that come to our mind. If there was any reason for refusal though, you would have noticed it in the Notes section of GCMS. If this section does not contain any negative remarks, you are good to go!

I believe they are still processing in Mississauga.
Some people I read in Chinese forum got medical request after sponsorship approval through email.
Just around one month after approval, they got medical request.
Their approval letter doesn't mention where file has been forwarded to and the contact is still Mississauga.
I saw more and more people got those medical request.

The "special department" could refer to CPP Ottawa. This was opened to specifically clear the backlog from Local Visa Offices around the world. Applications that are rather straight forward and do not require knowledge about international issues are normally directed to this office. This office handles everything from Medical and Criminality checks. Once done, these applications are then sent to the Local Visa Office indicated on the original documents.

Applications are definitely processed faster at CPP-O than the local offices like those in India/Pakistan/Singapore. However, they then get delayed once the files are transferred.

Thank you for your support. This time I'm almost positive that the agent was right as they proved my thoughts - the officer hadn't been able to make the right decision or didn't have much knowledge about which way to go in our situation, so they decided to forward our application to someone with more knowledge and power.
That is my understanding.
