My parents were in Canada for 8 months on Super visa and hence they need a Criminal Record Check done from Canada. Can someone guide me through process on how to do it when they are outside Canada? They are now in India. Thanks in Advance

How did you come to conclusion that your parents need criminal record from Canada? i believe in PCC they will mention the country that requires you to go through PCC. if PCC requests states INDIA and any country where they have live more than 6 months, that means only India and not Canada.

Glad to update that we received our PR visa stamp and COPR.
Application submitted in Dec 23 and processing started sometime around mid Mar 24 and took about 3-4 months end-to-end.
I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to the members on this forum for posting valuable information / responses which were very valuable.
I wish all others who are in the process good luck and wish applications are approved ASAP..

I have received notification from IRCC. I didnot include my wife as co-signer for sponsoring my parents because I have met myself the income requirement. But I received a letter mentioning "Potential Co-signer/Clarification of Principal Applicant and Dependant: It appears that you may be using a Co-signer on the application. A Co-signer can be a spouse or common-law partner of the Sponsor. Please provide a written explanation as to whether or not you are using a Co-signer." I checked the original application and still wondering what might have caused this understanding. Is it expected to use co-signer for parent/grandparents sponsorship ?

Check the form 5768 again:
on Page 1, point 4 - did you put all "0"
on Page 3, Point 11

Check the from 5406 :
did you mention dependant information even if they are in Canada ?

IMM 5406 (for Principal Applicant): The Additional Family Information (IMM 5406) provided was not completed fully. Please provide a current, completed, signed and dated Additional Family Information (IMM 5406) for the Principal Applicant and all dependants aged 18 and over, whether accompanying or not. Each individual must sign their own copy of this form by hand.

Sections A, B and C must be fully completed. For Section B, please ensure that you include ALL children, including ALL adopted, step-children, and those who are currently a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, regardless of age. For Section C, please ensure that you include ALL brothers and sisters including half, step-brothers/sisters and those who are currently a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. The Name, Marital Status, Relationship to applicant, Date of birth, Country of birth, and Address must be filled. The street number, street name, city, postal/zip code and country are mandatory for Canada and USA addresses. All other countries must provide the City, Province/State/Parish and Country.

If any information is not known, please enter in “Unknown”. If you are unable to provide any of the information listed above for any individual listed in section A, B and C, you must provide an explanation.

Please ensure that you sign the form by hand and dated once it has been printed. Please submit the most recent version of this form.

Does anyone know what to fill in Family Name on the Imm5406 form if someone doesn't have a family name on their passport?

Check in Guide Page 52 & 61 - it says :

If you don’t know a family member’s complete date of birth, use “01” inplace of the day, month or year you don’t know. Include a letter ofexplanation saying why you couldn’t include the complete date.

If you don’t have a family name on your passport or travel document,enter all given names in the family name field and leave the given nameblank.

If you don’t have a given name on your passport or travel document,leave the given name field blank.

If the name on your status in Canada document (citizenship certificate,permanent resident card, etc.) is different than on your othersupporting documents (for example, your birth certificate), you shouldattach a proof of name change and a letter of explanation.

For IMM5406, for both my parents siblings few of them never had an email address so I have inputted “unknown” as advised in the form. Will my parents still need to provide letter of explanation for this? Will the letters of explanation need to be signed by them or it can be word document?
