You are lucky. When I contacted my local MP office they just came back saying "your application is in regular processing time." Its been 22 months since I submitted :(

Any idea on the next steps after eocpr apart from SIN and Medical. Is opening a bank account essential? What other steps?

Those are just things that new PR can do. Nothing is "essential".
But it's good to get SIN so one can work right away.
Good to start and apply for provincial health in case some province has a waiting period and if not, being covered asap.

Bank account is for personal use and have finance setup in Canada. Not sure what else if PA is already in Canada.

Next is to wait for PR card to be received at the address provided.

Hello friends,

im applied for my dad via the PGP program and he is the only one who would move to Canada but Ircc asked me to submit my mother has his dependent even tho they are seperated (not legally) and she does not have a passport and never had one. After submitting her has a dependent on his application I also attached a letter explaining this situation and attached an affidavit from a lawyer about their separation. I think they are ok and today I received a snail mail letter asking for a police certificate, passport and email if changed. I can submit everything for my dad but for my mom it’s difficult since she has no contact with us she has no passport so do I need to write another letter along with the police report for my father? Or are they only asking these documents for my dad and the letter is a generic format? Thank you for your response

Hopefully the affidavit about their separation will be enough but will see how IRCC proceed. Did you receive any confirmation on accepting him to remove her as his dependent? And if they accept just the affidavit.
You will need to convince that your parents are separated. You may need to arrange for legal separation. Otherwise, she is his dependent and PA cannot get PR until all dependent submitted and passed all the checks (medical, police and background)

Thanks ! I submitted the affidavit back in September and just got the request for police report and passport copy today. Does this mean that they accepted the affidavit? If they had an issue would they proceed to police report/passport copy stage?

Finally, my journey here ends after 13 years in this forum, as i received the eCOPR for my mother today. This forum has been very helpful. Wish everyone all the best. My mothers case was different because she was identified with Cancer in February this year and her medical request came in March. We did the medicals in April by letting the Panel Physician know our state and in April we were asked to provide the view from Oncologist after 3 months. By July we planned for a surgery and got throught it. Then we submitted the view of the Oncologist only again the High Commission asked us for a review in 3 months time by the radiologist. But since we were already undergoing Raidiation treatement and completed it in August, I went back to the panel phsician with the letter from the Radiologist confirming the end of treatment which was just after 1 month. Since, there was no further treatment needed, the Panel Physician was kind enough and since my mother was to travel to Canada, there was no point in waiting for the next two months. My mother travelled on August 25th, she picked up the letter from the Radiologist. Which i emailed to the Panel Physician and we got the medical passed on August 29th. Then on September 6th her PR was approved. This might seem very fast, but this was just a call of common sense, by everyone involved here. I think, it was great that nobody was a blocker here. Everything fell in place at the right time. Then it was a matter of waiting and finally the MP assistant, also was very helpful in getting the Portal 1 and Portal 2 emails. I am not sure why they delayed it so long, because the approval was done in September. It needed an extra push and i should appreciate the MP office for helping me here. All in all, nothing is impossible! My story ends here, may be i will return again.
