Hi everyone,
I'm trying to understand how medical works for PGP program. The first medical that my parents submitted expired in March 2024 (medical was submitted for Supervisa but was attached to PGP application). Then we got a message that we need to do the medical again, so my parents completed it again. Since then application updated to "Review of medical results :You passed the medical exam". Application is still in progress and technically their Medical will expire in April 2025. Do they need re-do it again in April, or since the application is saying "You passed the medical exam" they no longer need to re-do it?

If IRCC requires redoing medical, then redo it; if IRCC does not require redoing medical and give extension, then no need to redo it.

Once passed, I don’t think they have to redo it.

Did you reach out to your MP? Push it through them, they should get this clarified for you. Its been a long while now.

On October 31, 2022, The immigration confirmed that it had received my application for parental reunification. It has been nearly 27 months since then, which is longer than the 24-month commitment given by the Immigration Bureau. Every time I call to inquire about the status, it is always say "process in background check". This status has Lasted for more than a year. I am very confused as to why the security check takes so long. Now is the age of AI, The "security check" should be completed in a short time? At least I think so. Is it due to low work efficiency? It makes me very anxious. Is anybody who has same situation can share? What can I do? Only the way "Patient and wait" ?

Hi Emily - I have read on forum that few applications takes longer due to background checks. Did you parents had any military service? Vancouver office seems to be the slowest if you are case is assigned to that office. Try ordering GCMS notes and also write to your MP.

Thank you for your sharing. Parents had not any military service. The case is assigned in Mississauga office of On. Apricate for your advice of ordering GCMS notes. I hope it could help.

Same here. My parents' case is in security screening since Dec 2023.

I ordered CBSA and CSIS notes and knew their case is security screening (A34 comprehensive).

I called immigration's agent a month ago and was told my case is in the last step "Security check" . I just don't understand why it take so long. Before I suspect my case nobody follow owing to the staff who charge my case resigned. But the agent said she saw my file there is someone following. If the Immigration said you have to wait 24months , Fine, but up to now is almost 27months without any information. Like the case lost in the sea. The feeling is really not good.

Hi AMR2011,
My MP office did put the inquiry for me, bur IRCC said there is no timeline for ecopr.
Just keep reminding the MP office regularly. They are the only people, who can get into the IRCC and check something more than what the phone services team say. Also, keep trying every now and then, because the MP assistant will keep changing and you might have a good possibility that a new person is able to reach to the IRCC. This happened for me over this 2 years time. The assistants to my MP changed and the last assistant i had the opportunity contact, was really able to push my case. Going to MP office, is to avoid this standard telephonic reply. Maybe they are really giving the status, but if they can do it by empathizing you, they should get this done. If you are not getting enough insight, then that is something not expected.
