I asked my MP as well and he got the same response that BG check has not been started yet...I had sent them an email a while ago and they just replied with the generic response of the delay is due to Covid.
Did you submit a webform or contacted them directly via email? which email address did you use?
I emailed them not webform. I used the following emails:
