Looking at the 2016, 2017 sheets looks like visa offices that are moving fast are London, Philippines, Singapore etc. Nobody from India in 2017 batch got the request for police clearance etc....only till Sponsor Approval stage is completed. Seems like since this lottery has started it made the processing very slow. Most of the people who applied in 2016 when there was no lottery got their PR in close to 1 year and some even in 6 months. After lottery started in 2017....processing is very slow.

Wendy you dont need to submit the police clearance and medical right now.In the package they didnt ask for medical or PCC.After you submit your docs they will check and if everything is ok then they will let you know when to submit medical and PC
Hi there about the package please I just have question coz there's a note there that they are not accepting bulk application something like individually, i put in one envelope all the papers for my parents is that ok? Thanks in advance for your answer

Does anyone know when the second round of lottery will come? Also, if all the applicants fulfill the income criteria?
Considering they already picked an extra 5K apps in first round (so 15K total), I suspect they will easily get 10K apps required and not need to hold any additional rounds.

If there is a second draw this year then it would show how big the submit intent without qualifying problem is.
True! On the basis of what I read in few news articles, in year 2016 for a quota of 5000 about 14,000 applications were received, that was the year when IRCC was taking application on First come First Served basis.

In 2017, when the government came up with lottery system, for a quota of 10,000 about 95,000 applications were received, that should have ringed the bells in the head of IRCC. Now in 2018, again the website was wide open for ineligible people, and we have already seen in this forum, that many people had put their name even after knowing that they were not eligible :(

If 2080, you are paying all fees including thr right of permanent residence. If 1040 it's only the application fees and it's up to you. You can choose whatever you want.

I can tell you what I did (I received AOR last week, so I assume it was done correctly). It was one package (my parents are married, so technically, there were two applications: one to become a sponsor from me and one to become PR from my parents). Invitation letter was on top, then page with the bar code from the sponsor's application, then page with the bar code of the PR application, then check-list and then all forms and supporting docs in the order they are mentioned in the check list. I used paper clips to separate forms from each other. Used one big paper clip to keep all forms and docs together. Put them in Canada post envelop and mailed by Express post to the address indicated in the guide. Looks like it worked for me. Good luck with your application.

May I kindly ask when did you submit/send your application to Ottawa? Or, how long does it take from sending the application until receiving the AoR?
Thank you very much

The deadline for the 1st round is May 25. It may take IRCC a month or two to short the bunch out and determine how many submitted application is ineligible. Then my guess the 2nd round would be around July-August. Last year, the 2nd round was September 6th though.
I am confident to say, there should be 2nd round this year too. If you read through this forum, there are many applicant who are not really qualified but got selected...

In 2016 they accepted 10,000 apps, not 5,000. And it does not mean 4,000 were ineligible, they just accepted more to use as back up in case they didn't get to the 10K with eligible applicants. But they did, and many apps were returned not even being opened.

In 2017, there was zero control on the lottery. People not even PRs or citizens applied, and hardly anyone checked income. This year at least they had many more checks and qualifying questions upfront, before you could submit a lottery entry. While still not perfect, it did cause many people to see they didn't qualify and not to enter. Compared to last year, the number of people posting on this site winning a lottery spot but not being eligible, is significantly less, and majority seem to have followed the rules correctly.

There is a good chance there will no 2nd round, as they may actually get more than 10K qualified apps. Would need more than 1 in 3 apps to be ineligible, which based on what we're seeing in this forum doesn't look to be the case.

I am not sure if this is how the IRCC lottery system work though. May be I understand this process wrongly...
Say the Lottery is open on Jan 2, 2018 and people start submitting their interest to sponsor. The online form closed on Feb 2, 2018 and assuming there are 100,000 submissions. IRCC will remove all dup and assuming after this removal process, there are still around 80,000 submission. Then IRCC randomly pick 10,000 submission out of this 80,000 pool. Now, IRCC start sending invitation to this 10,000 submissions and giving them deadline of May 25, 2018 to submit the papers application.
As we already know by now, some of the posters here (those who have been invited within the 10,000 quota) have been saying that they were selected this year but after carefully read through, they realized that they did not meet the LICO to be eligible hence they just took someone else spot. Those spots, in my understanding, will be made available for IRCC to select again from the pool in the 2nd round.

So, with this kind of process (as I said, the way I understand it), how could IRCC receive more than 10,000 qualified applications?

Hi, I am sponsoring my parents, and I have a question about "Current country of residence".

My mom came to canada to visit us last month and she is leaving next month.

In "Current country of residence" section, Can I write like this:

Country: Canada, Status: Visitor, From 2018-03-04 to 2018-05-04
Date and place of your last entry to Canada : 2018-03-04 Place: Vancouver airport

Is this correct? Thank you.
