I know, but my uni will pay me up to $3000/month for 4 years. Plus, I do 20% teaching at BSc and MSc level, it will bring me more money. Hopefully they will offer me a job too after the research is over.

yes, kind of. The fact is that I am qualified in a very emerging field and the Canadian uni is setting up its own lab and department, thats where they find me useful. My Canadian supervisor is in fact a fan of my European MS supervisor, thats the story in short
