My spouse is also illegal in the US and l thought she could not apply from here could you please tell me how you went about the FBI security clearance for her?

I don't understand. If you are overstay then what difference does it make how you leave Canada? Any way you choose the US immigration dept. will stamp your passport and probably fingerprint you so that you cannot return for 10 years.

BTW why doesn't your wife sponsor you to stay in the US? She has the legal right to do so, you know.

being out of status in the usa is a big big problem for you on its own. the best advice I can give you is that when everything is ready rent a car and drive up to canada with your american spouse. when you do that you will be barred to entering the US for 10 years if you overstaied for more than 1 year.

Normaly if you drive from america to canada you dont stop at the exit, you only stop after you are in canada (canadian officials) but if you stop in the american side for any other formailities you may want to have done and if they find out you were out of status they will give you a hard time... they cannot arrest you (since you are leaving the country already) but they will keep you there for hours, and they will do the best they can to book you so you never be able to come to the US again,

So any import/export formalities you have to leave with your american spouse to deal with.
