Here is the game.
If they believe your marriage is real then the interview will last about 30 mins with some easy dummy questions.
If he gets to the room C or D. They will throw (yell out) in his face directly "your application is fake" in their first word, then they will keep that same attitude till the end of the interview. They purposely/unreasonably reject any evidences he may bring. If your husband plays soft then the decision is made. You know what I mean. That interview will take longer than any He will expect at least 40 mins of torture. They wont tell the result after the interview but you will have the gut if its a yay or nay. After two weeks check Ecas for status. So my suggestion is to be confident and play hard in any case. Good luck

where is the interview taken place (vietnam, canadian embassy in hcmc)?

i got my inteview letter in november, so most likely the interview will be conducted within one year, so in 2015? i hope so.

Hello guys, I'm new here. My wedding will be in march 2015. So far, I'm going to get my passport updated along with my medical and marriage search in the next few days. What should I ask my wife to prepare in Vietnam while we wait until I get there? I'm hoping there's something she can do to help speed the process so when I get there, we can just do the wedding and get the marriage certificate. To my understanding, once we have the marriage certificate, I will come back to Canada and apply for sponsorship.

To those who have already done this, please let me know your experience. I went to a few lawyer/consultants and they want to charge too much $$ so I'm hoping I can cut some costs through your experiences. Thank you very much!

mikeymike, i noticed a few of your posts stated that your wife used a vietnamese forum that had some info on sponsorship. would you be able to provide the link?

my husband has an interview mid january i also came back to vietnam to go with him anyone that went to the interview have any pointers??

Since I have been there, I would simply say

- Arrive on time
- HAVE ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS READY (passport, id, interview letter with all specific documents applied to you like PHOTOS, letters, financial receipts, etc.)
- You may see some people going out of rooms crying, sad etc. which I assumed they failed or been denied. Don't be affected by that just concentrate on your case
- You may hear some VO talking loud behind interview rooms etc. Don't be affected by that again just concentrate on your case
- DO NOT EVEN THINK of LYING because VO will use that as MISREPRESENTATION to denied your application
- Don't tell more than they ask. Simply answer their question
- VO won't have SMILY FACES when asking questions so don't be scared or nervous, simply answer from your HEART

Good luck!

@ Note 1:
A good sign that you have PASSED is after the interview if VO say something like : "I have decided to approve your Application ...." you know you are good
Another good sign is if VO say something like "next step will be medical exam"
Lastly if VO keeps important papers like the interview letter signed by you and other CIC documents and only return you photos, love letters, your personal proofs than you should be good

@ Note 2:
A bad sign that you have failed is if VO say something like "Within 6 weeks you will receive letter on decision" bye and gives you back all your documents without keeping anything with them

Important to note that they also told us to wait 6 weeks for decision and my wife still got positive decision made. As long as your interview shows you know about each other you should be fine. Do not lie they have methods of going into your banking accounts to check and various other things like checking your flights to see where you were.

That's awesome. i hope you guys get a positive decision too. did they have the information that you already sent to singapore, or did they start from a clean slate, meaning they had no background information about your relationship?

i'm also wondering, if an interview is given, and only one person shows up and not the sponsor, how likely is it to get a pass....or is it a definite fail? for some reason in my head, it's better that i don't go.

does anyone know how long it takes to get a marriage certificate? we will be married in haiphong and i am wondering if anyone has any experience there.

Hindsight for me it was the best possible thing for me to be at the interview in Saigon with my wife. They were able to cross reference the questions and answers that were given and can easily gauge how genuine your relationship is imo. A lot of people have passed without the sponsor showing up, so I wouldn't worry about that. Focus on the possible questions they will ask ie. whatever they have flagged in the initial assessment. They will ask those questions 100% guaranteed.

Did they mention re-medical or have you already done that? Did they ask you to wait x weeks for decision?

the gentalment that interview us had all our infromation of our realtionship he has simple question. its really up to you if you want to go to the interview or not. if you both go to the interview your answers both have to match or they will fail you easly. the red flag we had was his uncle in canada had the same last name as my dad, which the lawyer made a mistake on cause his uncle did not have the same last name as my dad, i just emailed singapore to fix that so hopefully we get a positive answer soon.
