Are you sure this isnt confusing the Express Entry system which is coming into line in January for skilled workers? I don't see anything regarding OWP and given it has come from the call centre I would be extra dubious as this would likely swing inland as being more appealing than outland espcially as AOR are issued in some cases within a few weeks. Also, I would guess they would have to screen applicants to weed out those simply applying to get a $1000 work visa who dont actually meet the criteria for family class.

Hmmmm......!

If this really is true (and I certainly hope that it is), this will likely backfire on CIC, since the amount of Inland applications will soon skyrocket!

If a person (in Canada) can obtain an OWP with an Inland AOR, there will be a lot of applicants that were planning to submit an Outland application that will now file Inland, so that they can work NOW!

How is this going to help reduce the Inland workload that's crippling CIC processing?

We are just looking into applying. From what I understand, if we apply inland, my husband wouldn't be able to work while we wait for approval. SO, this thread sounds too good to be true. Anyone have an update on this?

Until CIC issue something official its just pure speculation. Call centre agents are not reliable information!

This is ideal for applicants who applied before November 2014, who have or will receive AORs. However, now applicants no longer have to option of choosing to apply outland or inland. review the new form IMM0008

The Inland application is still an option and includes the updated IMM0008 form:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp
(web page was updated 22 Nov)

What made you think that Inland was no longer available?

I read that form IMM0008 was changed, and one could no longer select where their application went. I thought that it was up to the immigration officer to decide whether it stayed in Canada, or sent to the visa office of one's country. Was I wrong in my understanding?

Yes, but it's understandable as most forms can be confusing. ;)

For an Inland applicant, you cannot select a foreign visa office, because it will be processed in Mississauga. Since IMM0008 is a generic form and is used for other application packages, besides the Inland Family Class sponsorship...it is confusing!

yes. choosing which visa office the application goes to is for outland appliants, as inland applicant's don't have a choice. sometimes a person is a citizen of 1 country, and chooses the application to be processed in a country they currently are residents in provided, they are legally admitted there for 12+ months. essentially, they are taking away the applicant's right to make that choice, and now allowing it to be solely in CIC's hands. that has nothing to do with inland vs. outland.

there are different packages for each type of application, so the type of paperwork submitted will let CIC know which application stream is being submitted. CIC does not automatically decide to process all applicants currently residing in canada as inland.

Ok, so there's no use in pulling out of an Outland application, to apply inland, because they might still process it in a different country.
I submitted an outland application in October, and i'm trying to see if it makes sense to re-apply, but it seems as if there would be no guarantee to process it inland.
